OT just angry that Benji blitzed them today.

We win 30 to 18 and he can't credit any player in the red V? I say well done boys.

Blitzed them ???

If you think 30 minutes of good team football is a blitz you are very easily pleased.

If we were playing anyone but Newcastle and we turned off like we did what do you think would
have happened?

Guys I know it was another ordinary performance overall against a side that is running last but cannot understand all the fuss over whether Lafai is a dud or not.

I wish he was the only underperforming player in our top 17 each week.

Happy we got the 2 points.

Very disappointed that Mary did not have the players motivated to rack up a big score.

If enough teams behind us and in front of Saints continue to sell destruct we may even make the 8.

Finishing 8th is a poor result for our club.

Am hoping the stars continue to align, however at the end of the day we are miles short of the quality needed to challenge for the premiership.

This is what we should be screaming at club officials about.

Ordinary to mediocre coaching, poor team selections and unmotivated players who lack confidence.

First post in a few years gents, but this thread riled me up a bit (And I am drunk as shit).

I can't get some of the negativity in these forums. At least save the bitching until after we lose. If you can't savor a win then sport (and our Saints) will do your head in.

Today we simply took the foot off the pedal. We don't know how to lead with 10+. We have been in that position so few times this year, we just put the cue in the rack when it happens and go to grind mode out of instinct. Penrith do the same. The good teams keep the pressure on, and that's what we have to learn to do.

That said, we absolutely dominated today. If we take a chances and Gareth brings his kicking boots, we rack up 50+. The fundamentals are there, we just lack the polish.

The glass is half full! \\\\:D/

Happy we got the win. Second half our attack was ordinary i think the boys switched off abit and just went through the motions because we were infront on the scoreboard. Very happy we dont have any injuries. Really good to see Jacob Host getting game time he is a big body and will only get better. Looking forward to next week it will be a tough game against a desperate and unpredictable Manly side at Brookvale oval.

Good post, I think we are warming up to something. I think we'll beat a good team or two soon and we weren't far off beating the dogs who toweled up the Broncos yesterday.

Is that the best you can do Benny ?????

You told everyone willing to listen
why this couldn't happen and that couldn't happen, this one couldn't be selected that one couldn't be selected, Lafai was the specialist LHS centre and it has all turned to shit because Lafai proved to be exactly what some said he would be A BIG DUD.

Yes in our last tit for tat on this, you did say he wasn't performing as well as hoped but that is not an answer to the question "why is he continually selected"

I referenced it back to you and your thin skinned personality wants to have a set too.

If you can't explain his selection no one can because you were the staunchest supporter of Lafai.

So obviously he is now an albatross around your neck
and you don't like it but no doubt if he had of been a world beater you would have basked in the glory of having told us so.

You now look like our halves crabbing side ways
and leaving poor Lafai almost friendless.

Mann was a better option from day1 but you wouldn't have a bar of it so tough titties Benny now hopefully you may throw some light on the question at hand

Cool story bro. There'sa level of dismissive bullshit in there that Vasilevsky would be proud of! Got any Lenin quotes to top it off?

Why does Lafai keep getting selected?

But in answer to your obviously-groundbreaking question, the answer is that I don't know. Likely because Mary is too proud to admit his mistake. Or he thinks that the centre spot belongs to the highest paid player. Or, as shown by Mann being dropped, that he values experience over form. I don't know. I'm not making the selection.

But I'm guessing you knew that. You took the opportunity to beat your chest and get a reaction. So you got one.

Now, kindly f**k off, you bitter old merkin!

Glass half full: 2 points away from the top four. Always better to look forward, in my view ...

Take the 2 points and move on to the next match.. The match was never in doubt which is a bonus for us compared to most weeks.
Given the match was never in doubt after the first 40, I would have liked the team to use the match to practise some set pieces, but that was never going to be the case ...

Rein was great in the first half but stunk it up in the 2nd. Shame.

Old Timer, please stop menstruating all over the place.

Lovely piece of posting do try and climb out of the gutter

Meanwhile it's all right for all you blokes to get warm and fuzzy and wet your pants over Benjis 20 minute cameo

Great post Mary.

Boys played well and simply put the cue in the rack. They scored great tries which were through the hands not kicks which was great to see. Pleased for Marshall and Rein to have good games with all the bagging they get. Benji and Rein are the better options of what is available clearly. Bringing in someone like Hasting ahead of Benji is dumb, Keary was a good option but NOT Hastings. And which hooker that is available is better than Rein? Saints are dumb for not going after Peats but it is all history now.

Boys conceded a freakish try and yet another controversial one. Getting sick of these crap tries going against them all the time. If the ref called no try I am sure it would not have been given like the Dogs one but the Bunker could not overrule. They only scored 1 late try in the end if you take them out.

Lafai I can understand the backlash but only because there are better options than him in the squad in Mann and Milne I feel in terms of attack. I though Mann was great last 2 weeks and was a shoe in for a centre spot ahead of Lafai. At least Saints have depth in that area.

At the end of the day is Saints can get to the finals with a full strength roster that would be a handy bonus hence why they probably play more conservative when they get a lead although I must admit you can get injured any time.

Widdop's kicking was bad but they were not easy kicks and in against a pretty strong breeze for 5 out of 4 of them.

The for and against may come back to bite us in the end. So when we are playing the worst team in the comp, we really need to keep the scoreboard ticking over for the entire 80 minutes.

To me it showed that the boys can do it. It is not so much the cattle but the coaching.

Focusing on our for and against is a frivolous exercise.

Before yesterday we were -107. even a win by 30 would have had us on -77.

The teams we are competing against for 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th have a far superior for and against (discounting the Eels)

Dogs - +95
Panthers -12
Raiders - +56
Titans - -6
Warriors - -25

Considering our run home, (Manly, Bye, Titans, Tigers, Dogs, Broncos, Sharks, Roosters, Eeels and Knights) we were never seriously going to make large inroads into our deficit. By round 20, I think positions 12-16 should have sorted themselves out and there may be some less intense games against those teams from 21-26 as they may look to experiment with a few players for next year.
All the teams around us face basically the same opposition in the remaining 9 rounds.

We can only keep winning, that would be our first and foremost mission and our finishing position will only be determined by wins rather than by how much.

Glad to get a win, always love it when the Dragons win.
But have a nagging feeling that we finally played a team where our attacking structures were effective but that was because their defence was very ordinary. The very same plays have been negated easily by good defence on many occasions this year.

So though the win was welcomed and our current position is ok considering, we still have to prove ourselves against a better defence before I start getting too excited.

Im always happy to win also. Some serious challenges on the run home with Bulldogs, Broncos, Sharks and Eels. If we can win two or three of those games then I think we are a chance to cause upsets in the finals....

I'd like to ask a simple question........who make up the TOTAL selection committee at St. George? And, who has the last say?
