A wake up call after having a very soft draw.
The game has displayed all the weaknesses of the club. CEO, board, coaches & associated staff who are just part of a boys club. They have no idea of recruitment & retention, coaching & how to run a club. Just have a look at some of the players who've left (e.g. - Jack Bird & Brett Morris). How does that happen? Then there is the growing list of players who don't want to sign for the Dragons. Do you think this has anything to do with the coach?
Too many examples of keeping players & ex-players out of sentiment. Make some tough decisions about the future. The lingering decisions about Marshall & Rein are harming the team. This won't be popular, but even the ongoing doubt over Ben Creagh shows the uncertainty at the club. He has been a great servant, but seriously, he can't offer anything further as a player.
Forget the finals for 2016 - have you seen their draw? If they don't make decisions about players like Rein, Joel Thompson & others, there'll be more promising juniors leaving for clubs that have direction. (from the top down through to the players)
What about the lack of pace from our backline? That was summed up by Jamie Buhrer, yep that's right Jamie Buhrer, running 90m from a scrum to score. How many other teams would've allowed that? I'd confidently say none. Another black mark for the retention & recruitment.
What is going on with Dugan? Do the coaching staff work on his passing game? Remember Jarryd Hayne was a similar type of running fullback who couldn't link with support. However, the Eels spent some time on his deficiencies & moulded him into one of the best players in the NRL. He still looks like someone who just desert' have any idea of timing & basic skills with backline play. Yes, he would've had his mind on Origin, but look at his play compared to other fullbacks.
No, this isn't just a knee-jerk reaction, this display has been coming for while & the shortcomings of the club (not just the team) was masked by a very favourable draw.
Apologies if I've offended anyone, but this has been building for while & I'll leave you guys to vent at me, the team or anyone else. I hope the decision makers don't have holidays planned while the bye is on, they need to be making some tough decisions - something they have failed to do for many years. Take the slippers off guys, forget about looking after mates & show some pride in the club. You should feel privileged to be in your positions of power not comfortable & patting each other on the back.
