Probably the most important Derby for a few years (for us anyway). Need to maintain our late-season run towards the semis. Choppers and Kyle have had this one circled on the family calendar for a while now. Need to show AFB the bullet he dodged and give Atko a reality check as to the shambles he’s headed for. Us in golden point. Last week was too stress free. We’re overdue to shit ourselves as fans at game time as per usual.

How is the match day weather north of the Tom Ugly's.

I am a little bit confident about this one. If we play for the full 70 and not slow down after the half time break we should get the valuable two competition points on offer.

I wish I could be more excited..
The first 11 rounds, I was genuinely excited on game day…

THEN we played the under-strength Rorters and lost 4 out of 5 games.

Now, it just feels like we’re just playing out the matches until the inevitable fail.

Yours faithfully,
Debbie Downer… LOL
I dunno Blue….I’m the opposite. Maybe it’s the optimist in me but I feel like this is the most open comp in years and the inconsistency of most of the top teams as well as the lack of finals experience of the Dogs and Raiders in particular could work in our favour if we happen to get it right.

I get that, what a time it was. Dreadful.

I'll give you some advice, this is what I've been doing.
The last 4 rounds I've been paying more attention to our defence as opposed to the attack. Its harder on the TV than live but you can kind of get it.
Each week it has looked firmer and firmer.
I don't know if I'm right here, but to me it looks like Fitz has said after those 4 losses "f**k this. We are going to get our defence right, and nothing else matters until then"

I've been seeing and hearing all the egg-spurts talk of us being boring and dull games to watch. To me that makes me happy, as it means they are being trained to winning tough games.
Like I said, I could be very wrong, but at least it gives me an angle to watch the games with a positive note.

As someone said, OK out. BHU to start.
Billy Burns on the bench.
The only further change I can see happening is if DA gets replaced by H. Puru.
And that could happen because we'll be playing at the Carss Park Mudhole.
But psychologically Fitz may want DA there to play against his next year's team.

Yep. This is the one weekend you pick Atko.
Like douhi and BHU playing A games as they're in the shop window for a new contract, a player wants to impress his new coach.
Only problem for Atko is I dont know what hes got that would impress anyone.

This one is all about our defence.
Mentality should be to go out to win 2 nil.
The best coaches say it.
Defence wins big games.

Althouh the Dargs do like an arm wrestle.

So much to play for ladder wise.
We win and we put ourselves right in the frame for 2 chances in September.

If we lose mentally, it will be a hit - the team will know we cant get up for the ones we need to - and the rest of the year will be meh.

Not really a lot there to worry us. Gutho will be everywhere. The 6 can be a threat.Glad Holmes is out.

Yep Piano teeth and the sideways kid will be wanting to upset our apple cart for sure. He’ll have the team revved up and they’ll be looking to break the 10 game losing streak that we have on them. You know for sure he’ll be using that as motivation just like they broke their losing streak to the Raiders last week.

I’ve backed BHU for first try scorer and to score a double…. About time the big man gave us something to smile about! If he can pull that off, all will be forgiven.
Geez Chimp how many minutes to you think he’ll be on the field to do that? He’s blowing after one set of six.

Honestly that should be our attitude full time, every game , all off season , all the way through the juniors.

Yeah I’ve been watching the defence too. Since our last bye we’ve conceded 9 tries in the last 4 games. 5 of them were off kicks. So 4 tries in 4 games off our line being breached. Massive improvement but it means nothing if we can’t sustain it. Last week against the Cows everyone was bitching that we didn’t go on with it in the second half. The fact that we only conceded 2 tries (both off kicks)into a howling wind was impressive imo.

The 2nd half fightback is a false currency in RL. It's such a tough game, teams who come out full of intensity and do the business like we did last week to lead by plenty find it hard do it again after sitting on their arse cooling down for 20 mins.

If its close at halftime that mentality spurs you to continue again afterthr break.
Sitting down thinking the games over is not healthy.

Losing the 2nd half last week meant nothing
