I’m new as of this post, I’ve been reading the stuff on here for a couple of years and I’m impressed and intimidated by the quality and passion of discussion conducted In this forum.
I would like to add my 2cents worth,
The team have don’t have specialist centre’s this takes our 2 strongest try scores out of the game, Johnson and Moylan knew how to bring them in through cut out passes and kicks to the corners, our current halves don‘ have that in the play book at this stage of their careers. Without Moylan‘s passing game Kennedy playing off the back is slow and ineffective.
Last season everyone wrote Kennedy off including me, he was a light weight who got pushed back in every tackle, he fumbled more kicks than he caught and his passing game was poor, he has earned his place, Trindall if given the time will come on and be a number 7 the team needs.
The front row that was on show yesterday are not up to scratch but with the 2 stellar players coming into the team next year we have 6 great back rowers but only 1-2 props, this can work if a game plan is created that incorporates their strengths, one plan that has been exploited against the Sharks this year is offloads, the current players don’t do this enough and struggle to defend against it. In Metcalf and Tracey we have speed that can tear teams appart if they hunt in the middle of the field as players like Rudolf and Williams constantly at track 3 defenders and just having the quick players close by will ensure defenders will have be on the ready for second phase play.
The game is ready for a shake up, Cronulla need to move forward and create a new direction for the team, don’t copy what other teams do, forget the smash and bash way Cronulla has played in the past this is not that style of team and the game has changed so much in the past 2 years, we have the makings of a premiership team but the game plan is wrong.
