An almost clinical victory over the Dragons... now we move to a very important game on Friday at Telstra... against Brisbane! In retro week!

CANTERBURY v Brisbane Broncos
Telstra Stadium, Friday 18 August, 7:30pm

The game goes out at 8:30pm on Channel Nine, And is replayed at 11pm on Fox Sports. It would appear that both lower grades will pack it in at Belmore on either Friday or Saturday, and the crowd will see an Arrive Alive Cup game instead before main game.

We played this mob before their slump, losing 25-6 at Suncorp Stadium on 27 May. I do believe this week.... WE HAVE UTAI BACK!!!

THE DOGS LINEUP:
1. Luke Patten, 2. Hazem El Masri, 3. Andrew Emelio, 4. Willie Tonga, 5. Matt Utai, 6. Daniel Holdsworth, 7. Brent Sherwin, 8. Mark O'Meley, 9. Tony Grimaldi, 10. Roy Asotasi, 11. Willie Mason, 12. Andrew Ryan (c), 13. Reni Maitua. Interchange: 14. Sonny Bill Williams, 15. Chris Armit, 16. Corey Hughes, 17. Nate Myles

Changes from last week: 5. Trent Cutler dropped to Premier League, replaced by Matt Utai, who returns from a 5 week suspension.

Slumped Ponies:
1. Justin Hodges, 2. Steve Michaels, 3. Brent Tate, 4. David Stagg, 5. Darius Boyd, 6. Darren Lockyer (c), 7. Shane Perry, 8. Shane Webcke, 9. Shaun Berrigan, 10. Petero Civoniceva, 11. Sam Thaiday, 12. Brad Thorn,13. Tonie Carroll. Interchange: 14. Corey Parker, 15. Dane Carlaw, 16. Ben Hannant, 17. Casey McGuire

Referee is Steve Clark, Billy Harrigan is pressing the buttons.

MATCH RESULT:
BULLDOGS 0 Broncos 30 :(
No tries, no goals. Pure zero.

Brisbane crossed five times, Shaun Berrigan twice, Lockyer, Carroll and Tate also managing four pointers. Lockyer slotted one goal, Parker 4.

We got rorted early, trailing 18-0 at the break. Asotasi was gorn early as was Tonga... we await injury scans on the pair. 26,111 (mostly our fans) made the final trek to Telstra. Next week it's a cracker at Brookie... vs Manly on Friday night.

My team - I wouldn't suggest there'd be too many shuffles. While Cutler was very good yesterday, Utai should walk back into the #5.

Patten, Hazem, Emelio, Tonga, Utai, DJ, Shifty, Shrek, Lobster, Willie, Bobcat, Reni // Sonny, Nate, Chrissy, Corey

should be a good forwards battle.. whether Brisbane can backup that 5 days later I don't know but it will be a brutal contest.

Mitsubishi Electric Bulldogs winger Matt Utai will return this Friday night against the Broncos at Telstra stadium after serving a five match suspension for a reckless high tackle during the Bulldogs win over the Wests Tigers back in round 17.

The 98kg pocket rocket will wear the number five jersey at the expense of young Trent Cutler. Cutler has played on the wing in the Bulldogs past three matches after Cameron Phelps suffered a season ending shoulder injury back in round 19 against the Dragons.

The return of Utai has the blue-and-white faithful licking their lips at the sight of a full strength Bulldogs team, which contains the likes of Sonny Bill Williams, Nate Myles, Chris Armit, and Corey Huges on the bench.

1. Luke Patten
2. Hazem El Masri
3. Andrew Emelio
4. Willie Tonga
5. Matt Utai
6. Daniel Holdsworth
7. Brent Sherwin
8. Mark O'Meley
9. Tony Grimaldi
10. Roy Asotasi
11. Willie Mason
12. Andrew Ryan (c)
13. Reni Maitua

Interchange:
14. Sonny Bill Williams
15. Chris Armit
16. Corey Hughes
17. Nate Myles

i just bought my ticket,
my pax number at the bottom of the ticket says 19,387 (but my dad told maria to hold this weeks tickets from last week and after 48 hours we picked them up, so im not sure if these tickets are adding from last weeks)

but someone may have to confirm it when the buy their ticket, because i dont think over 19,000 tickets would have sold already.

If the 19k thing is true i'd say we will come very close to 40k! We would probably sell another 10k tickets until the game (give or take a few) and the walk up crowd as well as STH.

Good luck 'Dogs.

It should be a real firecracker if our lads show the same intensity as in the Storm game.
