Good show in some ways... but it ruined the rest of Underbelly - A tale of two cities.

I bet channel 9 are fuming over this. A lot of people knows what's going to end up happening in the show, but many more, particularly the younger audience who were either very young or not born yet to know what happened in the 70s would be fuming after watching that show last night. Now they'll all know what happens at the end.

BAd acting, poor scripts and sub par characters have done that. Loved the first series but am struggling with this one. Looks like it is going to get a but grittier next week but the Morans and particularly Roberta were great characters in the last series. I just can't find Newton convincing as some bad ass guy, to me he looks like he'd cry if they didn't do a pretty design with the chocolate on hs cappucino.

Now they'll all know what happens at the end

To be fair most people over about 35 would remember what happened.

Agree 100%. Was going to post the same thing.

This series is bloody lame. The first series was hilarious.

Agree Matt Newton is totally miscast in the lead role.

As much as I love me some boobies, me and the missus were laughing the other night because how many times that new floozie took her bra off!

Last weeks Gangs of Oz was better with the Lebanese gangs and the stuff they got up to in the 1990s

I think Matt Newton's accent is more like a South African one than a Kiwi one, i could be wrong, just my opinion.I was a big fan of the first series of Underbelly, but i am also struggling getting into this one. I hope it gets a bit better soon, its got nothing on the first series at the moment.

The first underbelly was good and funny, the last one was sh*t with sh*t actors, although the guy from blue heelers and neighbours playing italian mafia was just dumb lol

Gangs of Oz was pretty good too, but all of these shows are sending out the wrong message glorifying it to the younger generation

I dont think anybody was glorified in the first underbelly.

They were all shot or arrested.

Anyway, Blue Murder beats them all hands down.

Blue Murder rules agreed...but I don't mind the current series. I think it may need a few weeks to find it's feet - it is still really just setting the story up at the moment...

As a Kiwi it's cringe worthy seeing Matt Newton trying to pull off just about the worst attempt at a Kiwi accent I've heard.

.

when half the show is about them getting laid due to drug money, giving off the cool vibe among other things, its glorifying it.

You can have all that stuff you don't need drug money.

That's spot on.

Underbelly makes out these crims to be glamorous. Instead of crude, paranoid, violent and self centered.

The girls are shown as daring and sassy, instead of trapped, drugged, depressed and disposable.

exactly.

having to watch your back 24/7 from cops and others, watching out for backstabbers, double and tripple crosses, is not a good life. Rooting jank s**ts even though they are good looking on the outside, is not a good or safe life either. Theres an old saying "The prettier the grittier"

That life is the same as being a parasite, your own life will be miserable and so will others, nothing will ever come good from it. You might live it up for a while but when you are doing hard time your perspective will change real quick.

Its sad the young and easily impressed will look at that show and get the wrong motivation.

I don't know how a show can 'ruin the ending' of a historical recreation. It's like saying ancient history classes in high school were ruining the ending of Rome or The Tudors.

A lot of the young guys here under 35 don't know what happens. That's why they recreated the show so these young people knows what happened.

Here I was thinking it was created for ratings, so it's an educational show that explains why it's so bad.

I don't know about that - I've been living it up for years from all the drugs I sold to Syko ...
