More like 700k to 750.
From what i have been told.
Have you heard anything different.

Mate, not been told exact figures but had two people that are involved with this both laugh at the amount being discussed. It may well be that once rep bonuses and TPA's are tallied that it gets near $1m but definitely not off the cap. Same as Hunt

I Agree with Gaz, Also what happens if jai Field kills it this year or the next and we already have two players on 1 mil each what then, do we loose the next best thing.
Also I would like us to go after Bird .

My take on recruitment:

Extend - Euan Aitken, Jack de Belin, Taane Milne

Undecided - Levi Dodd, Josh Dugan, Jacob Hind, Mose Masoe, Will Matthews, Tyrone McCarthy, Kurt Mann, Shaun Nona, Russell Packer, Gareth Widdop.

Let go - Kalifa Faifai Loa, Yaw Kiti Glymin, Siliva Havili, Drew Hutchison, Tim Lafai, Chris Lewis, Jake Marketo, , Josh McCrone, Jason Nightingale.

If this is so i can live with it.
A current rep player with plenty of experience, leadership qualities & wants to stay with the club.
Some say he has not done much because the club has only made the finals once in his time.I would put most of the blame on the useless coaches, selections & attacking structures he has had to play under.
Would love to see him running off Hunt with a decent coach in charge.
This is exactly what got me excited about the hunt signing... those short balls to Duges and Friz through the gap!

Yes! Yes! Yes!

Problem now is with the salary cap increase and signing Hunt on 6 mill any of our up market players will be thinking well if our club is willing to shell out that kind of money on him (Hunt) then I must be worth much more as well...and so on and on it goes.....hence these players that are getting the big bucks have eaten more than their share of the cap which leaves very little to retain some of our up and comers Milne Aitken Dufty etc....personally I think it was a big mistake paying overs for Hunt as much as we needed a recognized half ...as much as I love Duges I think 7 largies a year is probably all hes worth.....although having said that the difference between players like Josh is every week he busts his arse whilst players like Merrin at times imo went missing

For 2018 we should be right if we let Dugan, Widdop, Lafai and others go. Most of our youngsters are already secured for the next few years. I agree Aitken and Milne are a must.

Spot on. We saw what damage frizz can do running off good halves in origin, duges is just as hard to stop. I say another one or two years for him, just until we see how Dufty handles cutters, and with Ben hunt feeding him quality ball.

You seem to suggest we would have cap problems with 2 on 1M each (Hunt & Dugan)
You think Bird will be cheaper than Duges?

I could go either way on this one Duges is reliable and very, very solid. However he can find an injury and he seriously needs to learn how to back up the ball carrier (Something Quinlan was amazing at).

Gaz left us for money..then he came back because he saw a premiership for the taking..we where red hot in 2010and where going to win with or without him...this caused us to lose players...after that he walked away for an cushy job on fox...I loved him as a player but he left a sour taste in my mouth ..on dudes any more Han 600-700k..the club should let him go..jack bird can play 1.6.7.4 even 9 that's value for money there.

I am really torn on this one. Without dugan last couple of years we would have finished much lower than we did. Especially the first half of last season he was the only player worthy of wearing the red v at times.
But he is injury prone and often looks to be playing busted. He isn't like a benji who suffers from hamstring issues dugan seems to get hurt all the time with every injury possible.
I just think at this stage maybe we have already gotten what we needed out of duges, if he is willing to re-sign at a reasonable price on a 2 year deal then yep but otherwise move on without him.

Agree totally with this comment. He came back won a premiership with us and then f**ked off. There were other players i'm sure that had to look elsewhere due to his signing.
The bolded bit is all that matters. We don't win that premiership without him, Bennett even said so. The rest is just shit. Gaz is a legend

I do think his comments are strange though. You want to invest in the "spine", yet want to let Dugan, a fullback, go? He's a freak, and a rep-calibre player, and he's reached the highest level of the game DESPITE the absolute worst coaching in living memory.

DUGAN is a great player but unfortunately is very one dimensional - I rate Milne as a potential star and has a mortgage on the Right Centre, Dufty I have no doubt will become a brilliant FB and the left centre position can be filled by Lafai (yes Lafai 2017 will be the real deal) or Mann or Herbert ..

Spend the money on Bird whatever he wants !!!
2018 spine
1. Dufty
6. Bird
7. Hunt
9. Robson
= Top 4
