Was confirmed in the NZ papers that GB have approached NZRL asking for a warm up match against NZ A before the Tri Nations next year.

Why not just stop in PNG? Or are they scared they might get beaten their again!!

It's crazy isn't it? God knows what TGG could become if we had decent bloody administrators. The world could be ours but we get served slops instead.

NZ and Australia have a week off each so they should then take on PNG then as well as the annual game with PNG before the Tri nations starts with NRL players not yet up to international standard

Baby steps. At least GB are asking for a warm up match and not going in there cold.

True, but they could honestly do themselves a lot of favours, as well as the international RL community, by playing another nation other than NZ.

Samoa, Tonga, Cook Islands, could all be potential opponents, who they could play in NZ, and would at least go to build up the image RL is playing in more than 3 nations in the lead up to the World Cup.

Those of you who are berating GB for not 'simply' playing PNG instead, think of the logistics. If GB have precious little time Down Under before the start of the Tri Nations, the last thing they want or need is to be upping sticks and heading to PNG for three days, then back to NZ or Oz again ahead of the start of their Tri Nations campaign a couple of days later.

That doesn't make sense. PNG on one of their off weekends, now that's different....

I think they should play the NZ Maori in Rotorua, Waikato or even in Gisbourne .
That will be huge for the locals .

Yeap I can agree with that one, it would at least draw a crowd, get some coverage on Maori TV, and would be an exciting match.

No offence to NZ A but people wont watch that game...and if it is the 'Batercard Cup NZ A' side, it will look bad for GB if they don't blitz them, sorta like when GB took on Burleigh in 99, and struggled against them, it ruined any potentital reputation that GB side could of had in that Tri-Nations.

NZ A will be much more competitve than PNG. They want a tougher workout than PNG
