Just looking through the old 1997 website at the moment (it still exists online!), there is a match report from the Under 19s Mal Meninga Cup grand final, which Penrith won. In it included Rhys Wesser, Craig Trindall and Shaun Laurie (who was Daine's uncle, the one now at the Tigers)... but there was also an A Weston in the scoring summary. Does anybody know what the A was name wise - looking at RLP it didn't look like he played any first grade anywhere. There is an Aaron Weston, but he was the son of Dallas who played for a number of clubs in the 90s so would have been too young.
It would be Adam Weston, I played touch with he and his brother Dean.

The white-grey stripes are on top of the liquorice stripes on the 2021 jerseys, but they are below the liquorice stripes on the 2020 jerseys. Another way to tell is that the 2021 jerseys don't have the liquorice stripes on the sleeves but the 2020 jerseys do

Edwards remains fullback, it was a legitimate question given his limitations and then the finals and reality happened.

We are a defence first premiership team.
Crichton goes into left centre, he’s become a defensive beast and should do the job, hopefully his passing can improve but so long as he takes his right side defensive form to the left then we’ll make do.

Staines gets an off-season to show he’s willing to put in the work off field to be part of this championship team and provided he does he should get his right wing spot back. He gets the season and a second chance to prove he can be trusted in the finals wars that is our way. If he can’t little May is in waiting.

May remains more useful than Kenny off the bench and his versatility is more useful than a needless fourth forward there. He owns his spot until someone else proves particularly useful or he can’t be relied on defensively or to fill a hole.

Sorensen owns his bench spot, can’t remember an important tackle he missed all year, and you know I’m all over that shit like a fly, and despite his limited ability with the ball he pours his f**king heart out every chance he gets, unlike Lurch who seemed to think he could sleep-walk into a premiership.

Leniu has to be a minimum 35mins front row off the bench. Whatever the f**king issue has been with him needs to be put to bed.

Left side remains Kikau’s, right side is Martin’s now.

Hopgood or Tago, that last bench spot is whoever can own it, Sorensen or Yeo can play some minutes wide if need be. The spot is going to be won on defence.

There’s no reason we can’t go again, in fact we absolutely should go again. It’s a clear run, there are no barriers except that which we make from here.

Hate being that guy after winning the f**king comp but Dyl killed a heap of backline moves last night. He doesn't trust himself to pass.

Critter is also a million times better on the right and has to play there if he's not playing fullback

Edwards is in this weird grey area. Seems to be exceptional at organising the defence and its rare to see someone kick return like he does but at the same time he is where the attack goes to die. They should just set up plays with Critta at fullback and Edwards on the wing when attacking the line. Pretty much fixes it without losing anything.

How? There is absolutely zero evidence that Crichton will be any better with ball in hand. This is pretty much just wishful thinking.

How about keeping Edwards at fullback and actually trying to get more out of the rest of our backline - our attack has been rancid for months now, but we've been lucky to have the best defense ever seen*

(*by me, when I pay attention to these kind of things)

I'm somewhat concerned that we may fall off noticeably next season; with the comp won, there will be a little less desire there (it is natural; it is just the way things go) and our system relies purely on mental and physical toughness, so any shortcuts will see us drop games we would otherwise win. It's going to be very interesting.

Bring in a new attacking coach for the off-season at least.

Still have to address the part where Edwards is a complete handbrake on attacking sets somehow.

Team was both underdone and very injured, Edwards hasn’t been training at all, don’t need to be changing anything unless there’s a problem next season

Can Momo play left side? I'd play a Critter at right centre.

I really like him as a player except his lack of left to right pass.

That or him and Edwards spend all off season doing the Freddy pass off into the target.

Your remark of "where the attack goes to die" is pretty stupid when you consider that Edwards is the fullback who comes into the line to backup other players. The attack generally dies because he is on the end of the line and, usually, there is no-one backing him up. Doesn't take a football genius to figure that out surely!

For a bloke who came to the club as a 5/8 his inability to pass is odd. The bloke is all heart and great defensivley. 15 years ago he would have been the best fullback in the game but the role has evolved
