The training pictures are excellent. Its interesting seeing how the bodies of NRL players has changed over the years. When I looked at the players in the gym in December, you could see they were all mainly lithe and lean. When they all took their shirts off at the end of the session (my wife was loving that!), there was the odd player who was carrying a bit of body fat, but mostly they looked like cross fit athletes. Muscular, but not body builder big. Bloated Mr Olympia muscles are useless in the modern game, you just need to be strong enough to do your job and handle the impacts, not be able to bench press a hatchback.
It explains why somebody like NAS often fails to make an impact when a game is fast, you just can't carry that amount of mass without fatiguing. I laughed when commentators said if he had played the Storm would have won. He would have been calling for oxygen after 10 minutes. He never goes well against us, he just can't handle the pace. Not many players can.
