General Roosters chatter

mmm the chookpen site is going off again as usual wanting coach robbo sacked - Parra were up for the game and Chooks weren't. simple as that.

Who would pay $99 per year to be on such a site as that - I view it as a non-member after losses as I refuse to pay for membership- worst site ever.
Yep hard to say it was "they weren't up for it" - line speed was great in defence and players got stuck in.

It was just too many handling cheap errors (ever notice they creep up as the playmaker direction goes down), kicking under pressure and then weight of possession just led to less cohesion on the scramble plays.

With Tupou out they picked on one wing and with sam going down we had one kicker and the attack changed. Not to mention our speedy impact hooker plays 80.

We could say we need better cover for Sam but you can't cover a half back any more than a Watson type without not then have your middles rolled.

I don't think many pay for the $99 membership on that site.

We lost the halfback in the opening minute which is never ideal and Savala just couldn't steer the team. it was a good advertisement for signing DCE TBH, we may not have won but he would have directed things at least and Hugo could do with a 12 month apprenticeship.

Other than that we had Toops missing which always made me nervous against Lomax and indeed the first try was directly off an error by his replacement. The last try I'm not going to overreact to, he was just trying to make something happen. We definitely need to address winger depth for next year though.

Handling was atrocious but other than that there was a lot of bad luck. We conceded 6 tries without conceding a single linebreak which has to be some type of record. I thought they defended very well actually. Two of the tires was an intercept and that last one in the in goal and the rest kicks, 3 of them involved more than 1 kick.

Nothing to have a meltdown about but I'm not surprised the usual suspects are wanting the coach fired. Hopefully we still make finals but if we don't it is what it is, the progress this year has been immense and we are primed to climb the ladder next season.

Big 40 now when you look at the draws for other teams battling for 8th place in round 26 and 27

Roosters 28 plus 72 - Storm and Rabbitohs
Dolphins 26 plus 81 - Titans and then the Raiders who will rest players for certain
Sea Eagles 26 plus 4- Dragons and then the Warriors who will still be battling for a top 4 spot in round 27 possibly.

Storm will rest players vs Broncos though in round 27 - Broncos are plus 148 on 32 points and if they beat the Cowboys they will be in 4th place and favoured to beat the Storm if they rest their players which they likely will

This article gives some good insight into Hugo Savala's background -

Didn't realise he'd been in the Sydney Swans Academy until he decided to focus on rugby league. May help explain why he has such a god general kicking game.

Yes.

It would be interesting to compare his fitness levels to career league players as well. See if there’s any residual AFL competencies.

I think our league players are a bit nuts to play such a brutal sport!

The human body…simply wasn’t designed for it.

If he’s somehow gaining league suited attributes through past AFL experiences, maybe that could change youngsters training regimes.

mmmm.

It also helps that the current Roosters kicking coach was also a coach at the Swans Academy when Savala was there.

Yeah it’s interesting.

I broke my wrist as a youngster training for AFL one year.

I thought one was meant to pick up the bouncing ball on the ground and get control of it. So I tried and got stomped on.

I got concussed during a league game, a victim of a perfect tackle. Totally legal. No hard feelings, I actually left the game wishing I could tackle like that!

Chess is a great game.

From a roosters corporate box v Souths.

Courtesy ex rooster lad at work.

The roosters are good at networking so these opportunities come up for the broader diaspora.

Someone somewhere has a ticket, knows a sponsor and a friend or whatever and you end up a la carte dining and free drinks etc.

Although I live for the hill. The rabble, the filth and the humour.

Roosters mate watched the game and his view was that it was quite a good game, but you just couldn’t score the points.

I had you in my top 3 on will to win grounds and the Robbo in command.

Not on players or personnel. This wasn’t a classic marquee rooster roster.

So not to be, but a good solid hit out season and furthered my interest in your club.
