So those who claim innocence - and could possibly be found to be exactly that - should be punished more severely than someone who admits to committing a crime?

Yeah lets take Brett Stewart for example. According to him, the fact that Stewart denied he had committed the alleged crime (something he was found not guilty of in court) means that he should have been suspended for 4 weeks (although surely it would have to be the 1 1/2 years until he was found not guilty?) up until his first appearance in court.

Burgess on the other hand admits to being a criminal, and as a result should get let off lightly.

You would have to be pretty f**king dumb to suggest someone who is innocent deserves a harsher penalty than someone who admits to being a criminal.
