I posted this elsewhere but it might be better suited here.

The question we really have to ask is can it possibly be the players again ???? if so then change the lot of them !!

Or is it our coaching staff, managements ??? Well hey it's the team our coaching staff always wanted and finally got (his words) and yet it happens again. The team is the fittest they have ever been (again their words) but yet it happens again. We lost today but saw plenty of positive signs for the future and things we will work on and improve (again their words many times) Ummm where ??? downhill slide from 1st/2nd on the table to 6th and numerous losses that's the positive signs !!!!!! FU#K ME !! Ohhh but wait maybe it's all positive from here on .... we go from 6th all the way to and convincingly win the GF !!! sorry guys i dozed off and starting dreaming.

They say once your on the field the coach can't play it's the players, Coach can't control the way they play ... So True BUT, he can control who he plays (not the same old 17 all year round no matter how bad they are playing, no change no rotation ) a good Coach also deviates and changes game plans even onfield positional changes to suit the actual game and the state of the game at the time it' called game management OHHH sorry i said a good coach, anyway move on.

The team needs strong leadership on and off the field and it's not there off the field ... game variations eg Dufty game is off ... move him give him a spell on the wing switch Nighty or Nene doesn't matter just change, make him think !! Hunt is sadly out of form playing bad youve got Mann wasting on the bench or even Field on occassions hey Coach CHANGE IT move Hunt to 9 Mann/Field to half ... it can't hurt.

One game Hunt badly out of sorts, Mcinnes just as bad, Hunt gets sinbinned luckily Field on bench he comes on, Hunt 10 mins is up ... straight back on even though he was (and continued to have) a shocker. Now why not leave Field, move hunt to hooker and bench Mcinnes ?? at least f**ken try something new ???

Yes wasted time and opportunity and it really is starting to seem to all of us that Management is prepared to tolerate it again ... Obviously they couldn't care less and we the fans just have to suffer and deal with it

I'd say if Mary and his coaching staff remain and if Millward remains, there is a good chance the fans will leave in droves but if Bennett and his coaching staff come to SGI, our membership will greatly increase.

Cruising so we only get one shot at the finals instead of two?
That’s a two tinfoil hatter.

Perhaps, or maybe the players are as confident they can turn it around as they say they are.

We see this sort of thing prior to origin each year as well.

Once players are selected or guaranteed selection their form goes flat in the lead up games.

Let's see what kind of team turns up week one of the semis...

The early season success of SGI greeted with suspicion by most members on here. We are all aware of the previous three seasons mid-season drop in form and mostly qualified their enthusiasm until game results after SOO.

In my mind there is no doubt that as in previous seasons, the players were conditioned to prime in round one and there was not a rotation plan a plan to spell players in order to perform mid to late season.

No conspiracy here. The players have just lost all confidence because it has happened again. They thought this time with Ben Hunt it would be different. But it isn't. He's just as mentally weak as the rest of them. They love Mary but know he's a dead man walking.
They know that nobody is coming to help them. They know they won't get a class coach. They know the next guy will be another ex-dragons player.
They don't believe they can match it with the top teams and lets be honest, they can't.
No conspiracy, just a team with zero confidence that is already thinking of Mad Monday.

Yep, you could see it in thier eyes weeks ago, they had the “it’s happening again” look about them and were well aware there were no plans afoot to fix it.

WTF has Millward done for the average supporter to leave ?

The Millward and Young factions are the cause of most things wrong at the Dragons. Deals are done that favour these two factions but are not necessarily in the best interest of the Club.

Millward's appointment as boss of recruitment, pathways, retention etc. was a result of a successful effort to get rid of Mullholland and identify Mary as not being up to the task on the recruitment/retention of players.

Millward is one of the major reasons why Cleary did not take up the job of head coach of SGI and if kept in the position would be a deal killer for Bennett returning to the Club.

If you look at our squad you will notice that it is not a well balanced squad at all. And the depth of our squad is so shallow that the head coach has no confidence in them. We seem not success in our reported efforts to sign players we want and we retain players long term even they performed poorly in the period leading up to their contract extension. I could go on and on but I wont.

Director of Rugby League Pathways Ian Millward was pleased to add a further element of experience to the Dragons' 2018 squad.

"When we came to the decision with Jeremy, it was more so to see what he could bring to the club off the field just as much as what he could bring on it. Jeremy is very keen to be involved in that process," Millward said.

"We were looking for a player who had played over 100 first grade games and who could come into our squad and add some experience and character.

"We also have to anticipate that we may have Paul Vaughan and definitely Tyson Frizell and Jack de Belin out over the Origin series next season so we wanted to make sure we weren't throwing all of our young boys in over that period."

From September 2017.
I don’t think when Millward signed Latimore he ever expected Mary would use him as a permanent member of the first grade squad.
Millward controls recruitment, he can’t control the useless selections of Mary.
Same thing goes for Pereira.

So which players do you think Millward had in mind for our prop rotation - 4 props, to in the run-on side and two on the bench.

Graham, Vaughn, Ah Mau and either Kerr or Lawrie to be have been brought along in devolpment more than they have, plus Host, Sele and Luc to have been used much more than they have been.

I honestly think he expected Latimore to play most of the year in ISP and used only as injury and Origin cover.

How about the theory that the players are just cruising til the finals come?

Don't want to get injured and all.

Same with the bunnies and roosters etc. hence their form.

Perhaps it's not a salacious enough theory for this forum to seriously consider?

Who knows...
You may be right.
Won two matches since round 17.
Definitely been cruisin. Looking forward to our finals onslaught. Pfft.

Personal thoughts, deduction or inside info?

Seems to me the latter.

Feel free to continue.

Couldn’t we just lose 20-10 or something, not 38-0.....and to throw away a top 4, geeze our boys must think they are good lol if they can come through and revitalise the campaign from here.

I reckon we just can’t play.

Bloody Alfie Langer cursed us in 1992 and 1993.

.....more likely all other teams were cruising in the first 12 or so rounds while we weren’t, then we had no where else to go, while other teams slipped out of their cruise control into “ time to get moving mode”.
