So what’s the real reason he retired then ?
Just couldn’t be bothered ?
Couldn’t play to ‘his standards’ so didn’t want to play anymore.... do a nice office job instead for less $, oh and also a top up from a role with the NRL....
then coincidentally when his playing contract would have expired, he finds his love for the game again and can play to ‘his standard’.....
Souths fans, Souths and the NRL can dress it up however they want, everyone can see exactly what has happened.
He was too fat and lazy (or mentally unhealthy blah blah blah), Bennet wasn’t having it, he wasn’t gonna be of any value, so he ‘retired’ to an office role. Despite what is said by all parties, there’s no way he has lost out financially, and now he goes elsewhere to play (where they’re willing to accept his shit standards just because of his name and draw) when his contract would have ended.

it’s obvious....

In theory, can he come back and play for Souths this year?

Plenty of question marks over Mitchell. Walker and Roberts both having a disrupted time of late.

Plus the lure of an end of year SOO series. QLD are struggling for centres. Cameron Smith would be a sure thing to play in that one as well as any other recently retired player.

If some people were still in denial that Greg Inglis' career had already been significantly tarnished, they aren't anymore.

Totally exposed as a lazy, tired, overrated waste of talent who was his own worst enemy. Had he not started his career in the literal boot camp that is the Melbourne Storm, he would never have achieved a thing. No point having all the talent if you have none of the drive, desire or discipline. Craig Bellamy can take a lot of credit for anything good this bloke has ever done imo.

Except they didn't

Souths were still copped $900k on the cap for 2019 and an additional $100k on the cap this year for GIs early release.

I read this on foxsports about it.. last line of the article...

“Inglis’s contract last year was included in South Sydney’s salary cap.”

I thought they’d had a misprint at first. Then thought to check. So your quote explains the logic?

Thank f**k greenberg gone , for the clowns upset he was sacked , it was because of this shit everyone wanted him to be , like as if the fans give a f**k about the finances . He played favourites and was bad for the game.

souths sgiuld get a $1m penalty to cap for their rorts , we know the real reason he “retired”, he caMe back overweight and Bennett didn’t want to play him .

just like the burgess Rort, gets injured , came back and played semis but needed medical retirement for injury that happened mid year and he was able to come back and play
