Gibbs, Ellis and Ayshord

Surely we won't open up around the ruck like the Sharks did. We are tighter than that.

Those clowns were like turnstiles.

Well, the likes of Moimoi and Mannah (if he plays) are big units that can be exploited by intelligent players (which Marshall and Farah are) so there's always the possibility of this happening. Lats also showed last week that maybe he's a little under NRL match fitness (he seemed to have trouble getting his breath back) so there's another risk.

But once again, as long as the additional defenders (MK, Hindy, Joey, Lowrie, Smith etc) are on their game this potential problem could be dealt with.

Prop and centre are different positions. What bets exactly are we hedging?

Ayshford has played some very good games this year and can score himself or draw and pass for his winger. Classic centre who will eventually move in to the 5/8 role IMO much like a Daley or Fittler. Only young but he is a class prospect.

As for Ellis not making a lot of tackles and missing a few. 56 over the season isn't too bad for a pommie forward in his first season. He makes plenty of metres and has Heighington back to do a little of his share in defense. Has been a big part of their go forward this season.

He misses less tackles a game than Anthony Watmough does but I'd take both to play alongside Hindy.

no way ayshford will turn into a 5/8.. he played most of his junior and toyota cup football at lock and tim sheens has already said he will be a great lock one day. imo he should stay at centre, has already improved tremedously in defence and has ability to be a big game breaker like gasnier WAS

According to statistical info Ellis doesnt make that many tackles, he is not hindy?

Farah has made more tackles than him this season. And by a huge margin. Plus he misses quite a few. Actually he misses alot ! He trys the big shots but is way too cumbersome to pull them off. Any thoughts??? Ayshford is inexperienced. Hayne needs to run at him!
Though he makes a sh*t load of metres.:?

I don't know how Bryce Gibbs plays first grade...honestly.

I agree with your comments Belly. On Gareth Ellis however, someone mentioned earlier that he could be the buy of the season. I reckon he is up there with the best buys for a club. He has added another dimension for the Tigers. Alot of people are talking about Farah and Marshall but I think one of the real danger men will be Tim Moltzen. He is one of their smaller players but I believe he could well be one of their bigger danger men.

Also, have you all noticed their winger, Beau Ryan. The guy doesn't pass the ball. If he gets it, we should just nail his arse because the odds of him passing are nil, ziltch, zero, blot, SFA.

I reckon it would be a hum dinger if Tim Sheens lists Daine Laurie in their squad this week as well. Unlikely but if he does, remember the last time the teams met. Fui and Laurie had a interesting time trying to nail each other the entire second half.

I'm looking forward to this weeks game big time.

bryce gibbs aint that bad, as long as he doesn't give away penalties he goes alright.

and what do u expect from a winger, they arent suppose to pass the ball unless they are going over the touchline. its not like beau ryan dummies it and fools opposition

Beau Ryan will do three things. 1) Run from side to side without passing the ball. 2) Run from dummy half without passing the ball. 3) Catch the ball somewhere on the field and not pass the ball. For the Eels sake, lets hope he sticks to his game plan and he will be a hell of a lot easier to deal with than their other winger, Mr Tuiaki. And thats Mr.

Yeah but he is a pretty funny dude. Have you seen him on the Footy Show? He's a crack up.

I think Gareth Ellis will love it if you run at him!
He's extremly fit and will tackle all day and night if you make him a target, not only that but given the opportunity he'll hurt some of the Parra players with his defence.

Between the three of them i think thats where we will find points. If we can target them as much as possible it will help us disect the tigers!

Ellis is cumbersome and will not be able to react quickly enough. Gibbs is a penalty machine and Ayshford is lightweight. That is where the dissection will occur if we are on our game. In regards to defence. We need to stop Farrah darting from dummy half and Benji putting moltzen etc through gaps. this is where the game will be won. We have proven our defense is sound but the tiges will test our resolve.

Dont worry - Jeff Robson will stop Farrah.

Support play will win us this game. I think we have the ability to make some line breaks but the Tigers can be fast and so will have the opportunity to cut us down once we've broken them. We just need to ensure that players put in and follow each other and we should get more tries than the Tigers stop.

I don't see our defense as a problem. Joel and Inu can both harass Marshall so as long as their inside defenders stay alive we should be ok.

Yes. I think some incisive runs by Jarryd Hayne FROM FULL BACK will be sufficient. Dont you?

Yes, and, of course, that cover-defending maestro, Jeff Robson. The tigers will be cat food. (Or dog food?) Some sort of dead meat, anyway.

I know everyone is entitled to their opinion here but to say Ellis is a weak defender is nothing short of BS. The guy week in and week out hits and hits hard and makes tackle after tackle and rarely misses, sure he may not make 50 + tackles a game like Hindmarsh but he offers nothing in attack compared to Ellis.
As for Ayshford considering he just came up from Toyota Cup where they dont really believe in tackling the opponent i think he has held his own and will definately hold his own come friday night. Send your attack down his way and im confident he will cut out the danger.
Gibbs i agree with you, the money his on disgusts me he will no doubt give away penalty after penalty to give you guys field position.
I agree with Parra Future Beau Ryan is very much a weakness for us mainly due to the fact his runs barely have any merit and he seems to be clueless in attack. Alot of the time either Marshall Or Ayshford throw a pass to him only to find his either 5m behind the play or coming inside when he should of stayed outside.
Moltzen is the real danger man, Him and Marshall are building a very dangerous combination together and i believe both of them hold the key to victory come friday
Hope Laurie plays would love to see him and fui go at it again, Definately something rugby league needs two front rowers hitting each other really really hard.
Go tigers!!
