Gidley and Tahu don't Have Enough Points In them.

Why don't some of you have a look at SOO 2 again and you can see where Queensland placed all of there attack in the 2nd half.It was on Tahu's and Gidleys side of the field and that was the side Queensland scored all of there points in the second half.It was obvious that Hagens instructions were to attack that side.Besides NSW selectors have gone for speed to try and counter Billy Slater and lets face it Gidley couldn't run out of sight in a dark night.Yeah and another point Tahu scored two tries great and then let three in.Hagen would be disappointed that those two aren't in the side because it's obvious that NSW is a stronger and quicker side now.

And that has anything to do with McCarthy's reason how?

Swampy, I did have a few beers during Origin 2 so my memory of the game may be a bit skewed.

This is my recollection;Tahu scores 2 tries and narrowly misses another.(got taken into touch and was close enough to warrant video ref decision)

Slater scores 2. One close to the posts off an inside pass, the other from a chip from Lockyer followed by a 2nd kick over the top, virtually impossible to defend against.

Yes Tahu dropped a kick to allow Carlaw to score but every winger is capable of doing that and I don't think there is many better markers of the ball week in week out than him.

Please let me know what other tries he was responsible for letting in.

As for Slaters defence. He came in on Gidley when they had the numbers to shut both him and Tahu down. I put that down to a slight lack of experience against class opposition. Something which we may well see from one toey human and Cooper

CH it's obvious Bob McCarthy is being diplomatic in what he is saying.
Snapper well then can you give me a another reason why Queensland constantly attacked Tahus and Gidleys edge of the field and that is where all of there points came from in the second half. Me thinks some people just see things with one blue and red eye.

You're nearly as bad as Next Knights Half!

At least you use the odd paragraph.

They attacked down that side because they had superior attackers on their left compared to their right, lets compare the attacking potency of WIllie Tonga and Paul Bowman

Look, realistically the only try they can be blamed for was the Dane Carlaw one in which Billy Slater was later shown to be offside anyway.

And to say that those 2 don't have enough points in them is a joke, none of the NSW backs in the current team have a try/game ratio anywhere near as good as Tahu.

And if they're so concerned about try scoring potential, how did De Vere ever get a gamne?

Gidley/Tahu score points, but not enough to cover their defensive inadequacies. That's what McCarthy is saying.

McCarthy's giving a weak excuse so it causes a stir in the media and gets attention away from the actual squad. Its a smoke screen for what Gould is really wanting to do with game 3. I'll bet that Fittler and Barrett bomb the hell out of Slater and Wesser on the 6th tackle, and while Tahu could be handy there, he's got a major injury cloud over him every time he takes the field, and he needed to have a fit winger bearing down on them all game cause he'll need big boppers on the bench to make the yards up the middle that they'll get with Simpkins.

Gidley comes out because there's little reason to keep a ball-playing back if they're game plan is not to run the ball out wide as much. Gasnier and Cooper are top one-on-one options if the ball got out to them, probably just as dangerous as the Gidley/Tahu option, but no injury concerns.

Why did Kidley get dropped as 18th man?

The real reason they have not gone with Gidley and Tahu is that in SOO 2 Tahu's poor defence and ability to difuse the highball was highlighted in the second half.

If NSW were being honest with themselves, they would have said that instead of beating around the bush with nonsense about them not having enough points in them.

I can see the reasons for dropping the two based on defence -- their defence wasn't terribly crash hot in the 2nd Origin -- but neither was any of the Roosters' backs.

Brad Fittler let a try in, so did Anthony Minichello -- both were fundamental defensive errors where the Queenslanders exposed their slow reactions in defence. I don't believe that compares favourably when seen next to Tahu's dropped bomb and Tonga's speed down the short-side.

But then again, we are talking about Phil Gould. No Roosters were dropped despite them making more errors in Origin 2 than the Knights -- you join the dots.

In any case, it means we have two players that won't be missing for the match against the Sharks -- I can't complain. Let's just see the NSW backline succeed without the attack of Gidley/Tahu. I think you'll find Tonga and co will show up just about any combination on that wing.

What a load of crap...i actually find that offensive (on behalf of gids and tahu)....its a bit of a slap in the face.
I thought that too. Glad to see matt down play it in the paper as well. So much for gus saying that Gasnier won't be picked again this yr.

I also heard that he wanted to give Freddie back the Captaincy. Plus his having lunch dates with Mason and said he could be a future origin Captain.

Mates don't dig at each other? I guess I could pay him to make pizzas for me.

Have you come to the conclusion he's not even close to SOO yet?

He wouldn't get picked for NSW this year. Played country origin I believe. It's good to have a bloke that plays 5/8 when johns is there, able to make it for country origin.
