A WOMAN who was high on cannabis when her car crashed into popular television and radio personality Glenn Wheeler has been spared a full time jail sentence.

Deborah Anne Levy, 60, last year pleaded guilty to driving under the influence of drugs and negligent driving causing grievous bodily harm after striking the 2GB radio host in January last year.

Mr Wheeler was riding to work on his scooter when he was struck by Levy?s car on

Woolooware Rd. He has suffered ongoing health issues since the incident,

Police facts tendered to Sutherland Local Court state Wheeler was wearing an open-faced helmet and driving his newly purchased Piaggo ?fly? motor scooter in a southerly direction on Woolooware Rd, Woolooware about 4pm.

Levy, travelling in the opposite direction ?cut the corner in a racing line instead of a conventional turn? driving into the 55-year-old father of three.

Mr Wheeler, who also appeared on Channel 7?s The Morning Show, was flown to St George Hospital with life-threatening head and pelvic injuries, as a well as a severed artery in one leg.

Levy?s lawyer asked Magistrate Julie Huber not to impose a full-time custodial sentence, due to her need to treat an ongoing psychiatric condition.
Sutherland Local Court was also told Levy had been homeless at the time of the crash, and living in her van.

As Ms Huber fixed a seven month suspended jail sentence, she noted that Mr Wheeler ?will suffer for the rest of his life? as a result of the crash.

?The consequences have been huge,? she said.

She said Levy?s actions ?will impact Glenn and those around him, those who love and support him.?

Levy covered her head as she entered the court this morning to avoid waiting media.

Cheers Cardy, nice one. All good. Never surf or dance again (I was kinda average at both anyway) but I'm back to walking and talking and working and singing outta tune. Most important I'm here, for my kids and with family and friends. Puts things into perspective quick-smart. And very f**king happy to have beat my fear of never seeing the Good Guys take the GF lap of honour. Vale all those BW&B souls not so fortunate.

GW is left incapacitated for the rest of his life and this bird walks away??!

A 7 month sentence for driving high??...and then it's suspended?? WTF.

Oh, and they took her licence off her.

Hey you f**king idiot of a magistrate - at least community service - how about she has to go around and mow GW's lawn for the rest of her life.
Or turn up at Shark park for a season and be used as a tackling bag.
