Lots of analysis on the team make up so far with the predictions flying thick n fast but can we agree on a goal kicker?

We have …

Trindall
Hynes - I’d say it’s him.
Moylan

Did I miss anyone?

Hynes as first choice if Tricky and Moyza are battling it out for a halves position. Unless tricky is slotting them from everywhere at training of course

Remember how bad life was with Noddy and his kicks not making the goal line when he would attempt from the sideline 😂

Worthy of discussion.

Tough gig into the wind today and most from wide out. Also kicked the one that mattered.

Know full well he was disappointed so that’s enough for me to know he will work harder on it.

Keeps the job, I’d say the match winner saved him.

Nicho looked nervous all game until that kick.
All his other goal kicks he looked like he was thinking about it, just like the way he was playing, but on that last kick he just lined it up and went BOOM!
He's the full definition of a clutch player. Give him this year to develop his game play, he's not there yet, but he will be.
He already loves our club, he has the potential to be as popular as Gallen, maybe even more.

Hynes tries to guide the ball rather than kick through it. He needs to work with a specialist coach like Halligan.

The Sharks score a lot of tries out wide so need someone who can kick sideline conversions.

In the All Stars game, Hynes sprayed them whilst Trindall nailed a sideline kick.

Credit to Hynes for kicking the pressure goal. It should do wonders for his confidence.

Good posts fellas agree on both counts.

Weapon you are right, when we scored that last one I said to some people around me he had to stroke through it not jab it, he kicks very much like he runs, with caution and not always sure what’s next.

Spot on points all round.
For me, standing on the hill down the northern western corner, that last play, the kick for goal and the celebrations post look to be a real kick starter for all and sundry, particularly Nico, who looked like he was carrying the weight of the club the whole game.
The other positives was watching Moses pee heart break in two, crying like a spoilt child and when exiting the ground seeing Brad Arthur through the window of the media area looking more like a frustrated Mary McGregor than the would be 2022 premiership winning coach

While I think Moyza had a decent game.... Tricky is the future and can take a lot of pressure off Nicho with both last tackle plays and goalkicking.

Man, I hope they are doing something about this.
If we had a goal kicker we win by 40 yesterday.

Somebody needs to get good at it... and fast.

Joel Caine tweeted he was too square at contact and he posted a picture. Made sense as all his attempts at northern end went left. I assume the southern end ones did too?

Hynes is 5 from 14 (35%) at Shark Park this season. He has 9 from 10 away. Overall record is 14 from 24 (58%). Last year he kicked at 75% which is acceptable, given the top kickers will be low 80's. If he was kicking at 75% this year that is 4 extra goals across 5 games. It may not seem like much but it could be costly in tight games

The conditions last week were tough but yesterday were good. He seems to be trying to steer the ball resulting in a high, floaty ball flight. He doesn't kick through it strongly to get the penetrating ball flight that can be more consistent.

The issues seem to be technical and mental and require specific coaching from a specialist.

The other consideration is the impact this has on his general play.

The old manly goal kicker Mat Ridge said shark park hardest place to kick.
I think we need to give Hynes time he will come good

Agree about the ball flight, doesn't have that consistent end over end look to it. Like a golfer who's swing is off spraying the ball everywhere.

Frenzy.

Well, they can't give him too much time as it seems to be affecting his overall confidence.

The Sharks have to bring in a kicking coach. If they have one they need to sack him and get another one. His technique is awful and inconsistent. Doesn't seem to have one single process he adheres to and looks to be trying to fix things on the run.

He may come good, probably too good player not to but it should be sooner rather than later
