Goalkicking

Benji had a perfect day with the goal kicking duties. I know he's struggled in the past, but I noticed earlier on that he's over the 80% mark for this season.

I'm pretty happy with that. What do you blokes reckon?

Hasn't missed one since the Eels game from memory, so well into double digits in a row as well. Has always been able to strike them well just sometimes the technique must fall away or something and he either drags them or slices them. A couple of games have been won on his kicking now so he must be confident.

Yep Benji is kicking so much better and I have al of confidence in him these days. You know he's on when he's kicking them dead straight. He doesn't need to be hooking or drawing them.

His kicking is great this year...

Now if he could only find those couple of yards of pace he seems to have lost...

Tell me about it. He would have been quickest at the club up to a couple years back, now it seems half the forwards can out-run him.

There was a time when no one would catch him from behind.

Looks like he has had to sacrifice that pace for a some extra kilos....

I am glad someone else has noticed that Benji has lost some pace. Do you think it is the extra weight he has put on or is he injured?

Reason I ask is yesterday he was forced to do that run (I had visions of 05) but lately he tends to want to hand the ball off and not really take sides on with his running. I don't know why but I think he may carrying a slight injury...

Ben Smith ran him down from behind against the Eels, think it was last season???

Yep, well done Benji. I've had my doubts about his goalkicking but this season he seems to have go 'it' together. Hope it keeps up.

Is great to see him slot them over on the kicks that count, e.g. the one near fulltime which gave them an 8 point lead. If he missed that one, I'm sure a few of the boys would have got a sense of de ja vu thinking back to the game against the rabbits...

Im also wondering about his fitness rather than pace ? after the run where he got caught i think it was more that he lost the puff to keep putting in rather than slow. After he was tackled and recieved almost the next ball he almost fell over with exhaustion after passing it , Tamou seemed to carry on as normal.

Benji's kicking style has changed for the better. I liken it to Jason Gillespie's run up.

It was made shorter, he lost a little bit of pace, but his accuracy and control were dramatically improved.

Benji only takes 2-3 steps into the kick, he has a much smaller run up, less chance of losing rhythm, more chance of kicking accuracy.

I think he had 4/5 against Parramatta

His goalkicking has been sensational, it must be said. Many of his last few kicks have been from the sideline, too.

Yes, last season, and that was the first time I can ever recall him being run down...Has happened a few times since though...

To be fair that was his first game back from injury, and it was clearly still affecting him.
He's looked sharp this year other than Sunday. Did he have the flu as well?
