$3.77 million in profit for a year is an excellent performance
If you get close to 10% net profit after expenses from your revenue stream then you're doing really well

Ground hire, training facilities, travel expenses, medical expenses, advertising expenses, player recruitment, losses from previous financial years etc - Running a football club is a very expensive business.
Yeah but all NRL clubs pay for those things and they don't spend $35m plus.

The NRL needs to rush in this cap on football department expenditure that it is bringing in.

Basically the on ground game has not improved one bit whilst clubs have spent their revenue on all the football department stuff.

You can't hold back expansion on the basis of proping up weak clubs on one hand and then allow free for all on football club wastage on the other.

Given some clubs operate on sub $20mill revenue it does make you wonder what the Broncos spend $15mill plus more on a year than some other clubs? I would imagine Suncorp is a pretty expensive rental?

Accountants. Cough cough

This tells me we need a second Brisbane team.

The advantages the Broncos have over Sydney teams is a huge gulf.

Problem is there is not enough quality players around for it.

Forget about teams getting an advantage, the crime is the opportunity RL is missing here...

Brisbane could have 2 new teams and pack every game out, but we dont because apparently we hate success.

So spend $37 million and not win a comp for a decade. Could do that spending much, much less. Lol.
WTF are they spending $37 million on?????? Seriously poor management if that's the case.

Sigh. $40 million in revenue and $4 million in profit does not mean you "spent" $36 million

Profit is what you pay TAX on.

Honestly I think the shortsightedness around here is appalling. The Broncos are the minnows of Qld rugby league right now and the last thing we need is to introduce another Brisbane team to put even more pressure on us.

North Queensland are our dominating, arrogant big brother with their collection of premiership and the Titans have outmanoeuvred us with some spectacular, headline-grabbing signings and PR victories.

The best the Broncos have been able to do since 2006 is show off a new jersey. We are in real danger of falling to the level of the average Sydney club.

We should

* Introduce salary cap concessions and a COLA for Brisbane players who have to relocate from other parts of Brisbane
* Kick the Rabbitohs out of the comp
* Relocate the Raiders to Perth
* Kick Perth out of the comp
* Investigate the Cowboys salary cap

Why stop at the cowboys? I'd be looking at Newcastle and St George as well.

Lol gUt. You've been getting salary cap concessions since day one. It's written law that no one signs for the Broncos at correct market value. Probably your best player ever in Darren Lockyer was on a contract for years that paid less than what your average Brisbane taxi driver would earn. Corey Parker earned more from the sales of his recent book then he did from his collective Broncos contracts.

Broncos players sign on for a few pairs of boots, the minimum wage and the glory of playing for the mighty Broncos under Super coach Wayne Bennett.

It's no wonder they can't perform well by the end of the season... They've barely been able to feed and house themselves all year on the paltry wage that they earn. Poor bastards are all suffering from malnutrition come finals time.

There is no need to exaggerate.

Brisbane cabbies earn barely more than $200k

Is this the Andrew Gee school of accounting? What goes in the expenditure column?

Expenses can be brought forward from previous years losses, depreciation on assets, capital set aside or money invested in other works etc
