err what? Thats the whole issue, part of Storms cap scandal was Smith working for Fox, any monies that are received directly or indirectly are under scrutiny.

If someone says here is $100K, but leave it with me and ill turn it into $300K then that is still rorting the cap

Yes but in this case fox have a sponsorship with the NRL, If smith was working for Channel 10 or 7 or abc then there is now issue.

When he is part of an organisation like the Throughbreds who have very clear and defined links to the club, him paying any current players money certainly comes into question.

Stop kidding yourself champ

what kind of link does he have with the broncos? He has links with the old coach and with players but there are no rules say the footballs can have friends outside of there club.

Mate please, there is more then one incident where the Throughbreds have either given Shares, racehorses, or straight out cash to Broncos players and there old coach.

A group of 20+ business minds, and only about 3 of them are known, joining is by invitation only, designed to "help" a publicly listed company.

They sound like Masons. Maybe they are, who knows. I am jealous of them, what i would do to have that sort of power behind me, to help make business decisions and to point me in the right direction to invest and quadruple my money.

But if you think that is playing on an even playing field regarding the salary cap you are kidding yourself.

Friends? Deary me

The Thourghbreds give money to the ex-coach and players for what? Because they are good mates or to keep them at a club they publicly support?

Where is the bus to the dream land you are living in mate. It sounds delightful.

I dont agree with the players getting the money, He gave the money because he wanted them to win by keeping the best players. Thats not the arguement. What I am saying is that the Broncos club are not cheating the salary cap under the current rules. They have just found a way to get around the cap. Its not right and the NRL should change the rules to stop it from happening. Its not fair to the other clubs. Its is the same with the Qld SOO team the FOGS have been giving extra money to the team but that doesn't make the QRL Cheats. They haven't broken the rules, just pushed them to the limit.

3rd party money if coming from an outside organisation, like the Throughbreds, is certainly considered part of a teams cap.

Give him some leeway, he is from Logan. Someone will have to do more than join the dots for him.

Frank,

So because another side did it, that makes it ok to cheat ?

Badav,
Would a chairman of your club giving evidence under oath suffice ? Or was he lying during a criminal investigation to take a pot shot at the Broncos

Well something should have come of it then.

I think your nieve Johnsy if you believe your own club is totally clean too. How much creative accounting did you reckon was done to slip Gasnier into the side this year?

Obviously the NRL was going to OK it, as its in their best interests to allow him to return to the code, even if it does render salary cap 'restrictions' as laughable.

I partially agree with that.

Clubs should get huge exemptions for players developed by the club, with the money the goes into players at such a young age these days it is a huge investment only for the most part other clubs with cap space paying overs for them ie. Dave Taylor - Souths.

Inglis, Cronk, Slater and Smith were all taken from the QLD Cup (thousands of km's away from Melbourne) so there goes David Gallops argument about unfair catchments for teams like Canberra etc (who are now affiliated with Logan). And all 4 should stay at the Storm, I understand they kept singing other players while being over the cap but the ones they nurtured/invested in (and look at what those investments have brought to the game) should of been subsidised in the first place.

I think if something like that came into the comp the quality of juniors would rise as it would allow clubs to dive in 100% into junior development with little fear of losing the returns/player once the player is showing potential to other clubs.

If Dugan went to the Roosters it would of shown how stupid our games rules are in regards to the cap.
