Were the Dragons big favs going into that game? Forgot about Glenn Lazarus. One of the best props ever.

Can't remember. Was only 12 at the time and pissed off at the Bears merging with Manly.

But if Mundine passes the ball and dragons score it was all over.

Minor Premiers, defending Premiers, called Souths chokers all week - leading 12 - 0. And then CHOKE.

That wasn't at all a choke. It's extremely rare that the minor premiers win the title for one, and this year was the closest race for the mp in years. And just coz they were up 12-0 it doesn't mean they choked. A choke is when you are by far the better team but get nervous and don't play your game and lose. The roosters were up 12-0 and then got tired after being dominated by souths, didn't get at all nervous, just beaten by a better side

This Dogs team has been in the Grand Final twice in three years, seems to have a fair bit of quality to me. Not sure why everyone underestimates them. They've also beaten Roosters, Souths, Melbourne, Sea Eagles in the regular season

They have proven able to beat anyone in the top 8 this year

That's very true. But most of those were at the beginning of the season as well when teams haven't really hit their straps. On paper, souths are the far superior side and have been playing like it as well. Dogs only just beat manly and panthers whereas souths smashed manly and dominated roosters

If you are talking about losing when hot favourites it is hard to go past the 2003 Roosters.

Yeah big favourites in that one, although panthers were the minor premiers and I think it was more like this year when they were just constantly underestimated, and that's what cost them. Also the pressure of back to back would have been a factor

He took them off to bring on better tacklers to protect the lead.

How'd that work out for him?
Where any of the two better tacklers he brought on to protect the lead one of the 5 guys Jackson beat or carried on his back for the match winner?

You really know your stuff, tell that to the cowboy fans who witnessed the loss.

You are right. I have been overcome with the brilliance of Souths.

The chooks only lost two out of three in the finals. The refs saved them in the other. Which well and truly qualifies them as chokers.

Geez that last one was a hiding

1989 Balmain
1999 Dragons
2001 Eels

Dragons and Balmain both had the games in the bag really, and fluffed it. 89 was a great grand final, but Balmain were the best team (Souths probably second tbh),

The Eels are a funny one, great season, but Kennedy and Johns were great players and just destroyed them

Parra choked in 2009 as well, they only starting playing the type of footy that got them to the GF in the first place in the last 15-20 mins of that game and they almost came back and won, they only had to play like that from the start and they would have beaten the cheating Storm.

Played like complete idiots for 65 mins,Storm couldn't handle the offloads in the last 15 mins.

Losing 2 minor premiership games in a row is a choke let alone to your most hated rivals. When it is all said and done this 3 year "golden era" of souffs will feature your most hated rivals winning 2 MPs and a premiership

Further to that since you were unfairly allowed back in the comp your most hated rivals have won 2 comps, been in 5 grand finals, finished top four 6 times, been in the finals 7 times and have won 15/22 finals matches

No one gives a stuff about Minor premierships. Never have, never will.

We own the chookies......forever in our shadow. Number # 21 coming up.

FWIW, you haven't beaten Souths in a finals match since 30 years before colour TV. Lol

How does it feel after last week's arse reaming?:lol::lol:

Melbourne are the biggest chokers. Had 2 premierships won and the trophy even handed to them, yet still lost.........
