Nothing games close to the Eels choke in 2001 IMO... unless we take into account Prelims. Then the Eels of 2005 say hello with their 29-0 thrashing at the hands of the cowboys.
Canterbury are the perfect example of 'as long as your forwards are doing well, the rest of your team will follow'. They have a great pack lead by Jammer Graham, decent halves but with fairly average backs (besides Morris) on paper. The backs have been doing very well lately and that is of course because of their forwards, especially the likes of Thomson and Lafai.
If the Dogs can match Souths in the forwards the rest of their team will follow.
1989 Balmain
1999 Dragons
2001 Eels
Dragons and Balmain both had the games in the bag really, and fluffed it. 89 was a great grand final, but Balmain were the best team (Souths probably second tbh),
The Eels are a funny one, great season, but Kennedy and Johns were great players and just destroyed them
Yeah you would have to say eels own the chokers tag. 2001, 2005 and then they were easily the best team for the last 2 or 3 months in 2009 and then stopped playing their normal game and froze for the first 3 quarters of the grand final
Million ducks? Awesome artwork, Picasso.
did I offend you sweetie ?
Losing 2 minor premiership games in a row is a choke let alone to your most hated rivals. When it is all said and done this 3 year "golden era" of souffs will feature your most hated rivals winning 2 MPs and a premiership
Further to that since you were unfairly allowed back in the comp your most hated rivals have won 2 comps, been in 5 grand finals, finished top four 6 times, been in the finals 7 times and have won 15/22 finals matches
