Has a team lost as many GFs as Melbourne?
2 theyve won they cheated.

Bellamy.
Is he a myth?
How would he go at Tigers? Sharks?

His whole career.
Inglis. Slater. Cronk. Smith.
Then.
Paps. Munster. Hughes. Grant.

And yet has won so few comps.
I wish to add in one Wayne Bennett as well thank you. I will say this about Bellamy, all of those players came through his system as nobodies and were developed.

Bennett inherited most of the QLD side from 1988 onwards - they should have won the comp from 88 to 2000 - the money, resources and media they had in their corner was unbelievable.

The same thing you can say about Mcguire he inherited a great team from Walters.

Money doesn't talk it swears.

There are and will be cap issues so watch this space and see how they get around it all.

Madge inherited a talented but undisciplined team from Walters. He has brought the toughness they needed whilst still allowing the talent to shine.

Bellamy has built an exceptional culture through a couple of generations of players. They could have dropped off after Smith, Cronk, Slater etc but have stayed a top side for years due to his drive.

Wonder who his successor will be? Might, hopefully, be like Sir Alex at Man Utd where they just go to shit.

The thing about Bellamy and Madge that shows it’s not JUST about having an elite squad, is the players that the improve/make look elite, who in any other system are plodders.
The job Madge has done with Shibasaki, Hetherington (who I thought was a real difference maker in the GF), Marriner, Karipani, Smoothy, Paix, Talty etc cannot be understated. And he’s then got Walsh and Haas fitter, stronger, hungrier and more consistent than they’ve ever been.
Of course the Broncos squad is very good, but Madge has got the stars playing to their potential (which other than Haas hasn’t happened consistently), and then he’s lifted the game of his squad men. It’s been a terrific coaching performance - the idiots trying to give credit to Walters for this years win are off their heads.

I didn't watch the game, I hope the sharks supporters didn't watch it either.
I made sure not to click on anything relating to the game the less coverage the better.
It was shame it didn't rain all day in Sydney.
Now to have to put up with it in Brisbane, the last week and half has been horrible for Brisbane

You don't like RL Stakey? You come off sounding like a petulant 12 year old.

The loss to Melbourne the week before, well I was bitter but accepting on the basis of how the game went. Same as the prelim v pennies last year. Maybe that’s a reflection of me being weak Cronulla supporter, who has accepted mediocrity for 50 odd years.
But I’ll always watch the GF.
1999 was the perfect example - how I mustered the courage to watch that in the RSL Cronulla with a wide selection of St.George flogs about, is anyone’s guess.
Then again, Jamie Aincough definitely made it memorable. Tears from both little and big brother supporters for different reasons.

I’m rambling here….. if you can’t get joy out of a GF then why watch the whole season with a magnifying glass?
