Grand Final tickets

Sydney is like a straitjacket on the NRL, if it doesn't get free from it the game will die.
It'll sell out, areas are starting to show Allocation exhausted or Limited Availability now. Main thing to note is that you can still get a ticket on the Half Way line, shows that $400 is way to much. I'd say there are a lot of people holding off for the inevitable last minute cheap tickets.
Unfortunately the NRL have put the cart before the horse with ticket prices. The AFL put prices up when they had built the club membership to a level where the members out number the available tickets (Richmond have over 80k members, I think Adelaide have 60k)), creating a supply and demand scenario. We don't have that level of membership, prices should be dropped significantly in the short term until club membership is built over the coming years, and you offer good discounts to members of the competing teams. you cannot expect casual fans or fans of non competing clubs to walk up and pay $400 a ticket.

sell out or give out? They don't usually allow junior passes for a grand final.

Yes. PR he did. Kent has come up with some pro rugby league comments over recent times. Shame he hasn't really mentioned much about the World Cup though.
From what he informed simple publicity efforts like having the competing GF clubs flags up over the two main bridges would have been appropriate. Looks like the NRL hasn't thought about this once again. Its the grand final. Out of town clubs or Sydney clubs , it should be given decent visible publicity.

Interesting point. Usually the week leading in the GF, regardless of who's playing, there are flags of the NRL Grand Final in York and George Street.

Even in 2015 with the Cowboys/Broncos there was stuff advertised around the city, but instead this week there's stuff that's either weeks ahead or stuff that's already happened.

And usually there's something happening at Darling Harbour where you can meet the players, past and present, pass the ball competition, get a photo with the mascots. Now just this morning I got told it was at Luna Park, but I wonder if other people would know where it is.

NRL is just shite at marketing and Sydney has such a entitlement view of RL that it doesn't try. You'd have thought they might have learnt after the RLWC snubbing but alas no.
Locking in the GF for a decade was stupid, let other cities bid for it and make part of the submission how they will promote the GF week in that city. If it was at MCG this weekend you can bet Melbourne CBD, Fed square etc would be full of NRL promotion.

I'm pretty amazed, and disappointed, there is nothing happening Saturday other than free entry to a horse race! Its the biggest weekend of the year for the NRL, get off your arses and take the opportunity to hype the game up in a ever dwindling interested Sydney!

Clover Moore's rainbow flags are more important.

I got my tickets for $45 when they first went on sale to members. Although there are no Sharks teams playing, thats still good value. I'm just glad I didn't pay for Diamond tickets.

What do you want to happen?

Furthermore...why are you allegedly coming to the game?
You hate the NRL
You hate Sydney
Sydney hates you
You don't have a team to follow.
All you do is bag the shit out of rugby league and Sydney.
Maybe, just maybe ...Sydney doesn't need to put on some bullshit cheesy thing the day before.
Game day had all that shit outside the stadium all day anyway.

Use your brains and enjoy the joint.
Walk the bridge
Go to the rocks....have a beer
Go to the beach
Go to the opera bar
Go to the national park..enjoy the bush fire.
Go to any number of awesome pubs along the coast.
Have a swim at Cronulla then go to the RSL for lunch -one of the best views from any joint in Sydney.
Catch the ferry to Bundeena or Manly
Go to Bondi and blend in with the rest of the soap dodgers.

I visit Sydney regularly and do those things, I'm coming for an NRL GF, not too much to hope that there might be something related to it going on the day before when tens of thosuands of fans of two out of town teams are in the city.

I'm more of a RL fan than you will ever be.

Oh yeah that's right you're an expert on Sydney.

It has stuff on all bloody day .
The game doesn't start until 7pm ish
What do you need 2 days for?

Out of town fans can do what they all do ..
See the sites of Sydney .
The weather is unreal at the moment.
The ones I spoke to last year were all raving about the time they were having by just checking out the sites.

I know I'd rather do that than stand out the front of the stadium in Homebush for two f**king days before the actual game.

Marketing is beyond the NRL. They're lucky that Rugby League sells itself to the extent that it does.

On a side note you'd think winning a comp would make Sharks fans less bitter

Two things.

If the roosters v manly could sell out in 2013 then this will.

Secondly I hope it doesn't rain, it could impact with planes not flying

Winning was just a blip on their otherwise mediocre existence. You have to excuse their bitterness

An expert no, a regular visitor yes. f**k you like to miss the point. Its the NRL's big weekend, the city should be awash with NRL events and advertising. The game needs a big boost in the city, what better time than the GF weekend. But its ok I can go look at the opera house again.
No interest in visiting homebush but a big event at Darling Harbour on Sat night, hell yes Id be up for that. Maybe something with both teams on Sat morning outside the opera house, an history of the game exhibit at one of the museums to coincide. f**k anything NRL related would have been good.

Meanwhile tens of thousands join in the afl festivities in the heart of the city the day before their big game
