Looks like there will be info in a weeks time, possibly even a trailer.

I'm keen to see how much of an improvement they make it over GTAIV and how it compares to the likes of Red Dead Redemption.

You'd think it'll be using the same engine. Exciting though to see what they reveal next week :D

Red Dead is on par with GTA SA in my book that was just an incredible experience.

The problem GTA5 will have is the huge hype and in a lot of minds the anticipated improvement on 4 which left a few people deflated.

I can't wait for next week

A similar game to San Andreas, but with improved graphics and a new engine (make it like the other GTA's where you don't feel so heavy) would seriously be amazing.

Driving was awesome in GTA 4, but maybe tweak the turning sensitivity up a notch in the next one. The driving seems to keep improving in every GTA game though, so I'm not worried.

I didn't like the story in GTA 4, so hopefully they can put in a better story.

Mate you pull the GTA 4 graphics and gameplay into San Andreas and you'll have the greatest game ever created!

I am turgid with expectation. GTAIV was easily my most favourite game but I only got to about 12% completed in single player. I had too much fun shooting people in the dick online.

I still play GTAIV once a week with my mates online.

Agree with this. Although the gameplay of GTA 4 is so awesome that I can't play San Andreas after - imagine San Andreas would still look okay on computer though (I have it on PS2).

Anybody who is hoping for a return to the pre GTAIV Sillyness might be a little disappointed - from all the interviews and indications from Dan and Sam Houser they want to push GTA more towards the direction we've seen it heading.

Remember GTA3 for all its insanity was the beginning of more mature stories to push into the mainstream - the sillyness of Vice City and San Andreas were testing grounds to see how far Rockstar could push themselves and their fans and the general public.

When IV came along everybody expected much of the same however they went back to trying to develop and expand on the mature and more cinematic side of their games. This has then shown us games like Red Dead which im sure you would all agree has one of the best stories in videogaming.

Rockstar work a lot like some of the great movie directors gone, like Scorsese who would do a movie like "The Colour of Money" so that he could gain the financial backing to make a movie like "Casino". They learn from every game they make before it and implement that into there next title.

While I would love to see GTA LA - which seems to be the front runner, dont be surprised if they take this game to somewhere like Boston for more of a grittier crime feel.

It goes without saying I will be anticipating this trailer so so so so much... There is something extra special about a new GTA game...

I've heard rumours about Washington DC...

Also, with regards to silliness, the game may be as 'serious' as hell but that isn't going to stop me doing wheelies in a scooter while firing an uzi into a crowd of people.

I wonder if they'll make a bigger push towards branching out storylines. There was the hint of that with the decisions you made in GTA 4 - they just didn't change the overall outcome at all.

Washington DC would be awesome.

I visited this year and the National Mall was mind blowing,

I imagine that it'll have multi cities ala San Andreas though.

There's long been rumours of a real world LA setting but what do people make of this news?

Have you already seen GTA 5 in action? And will it be co-op?
GTA-5-a-610x379.jpg

There’s an interesting story over at sticktwiddlers.com where they report that an ‘industry professional’ tipped them off to a former animator who used to work for Sony, and is now at RockStar.
Jim Jagger was a former principle animator at Sony London who’s been lead animator on a ‘TBA’ project at Rockstar North since 2009. You know, the year after GTA IV came out, meaning there’s a big chance he’s was hired to work on GTA V. He mentions ‘involvement’ with LA Noire but that’s not secret. Plus he’s based in Rockstar’s Edinburgh mothership.
While at Sony Jim worked on Eight Days, a cover-based shooter with a combat mechanic very similar to GTA IV. It’s not much of a reach then to expect a similar look and feel to the cancelled PS3 shooter. It was also a co-op adventure involving a lot of interplay between the two characters during gunfights – throwing each other guns, passing each other against walls (cut to about 3m30s in the second video below). Is he doing something similar in GTA5? There’s one other thing to consider, Jim’s got a lot of PS3 experience too. I’m just going to whisper ‘lead platform’ and run…
