Last night the rugby league world saw somthing special. Those things which rarely happen, maybe you will see them a handfull of times in your life. There a certain player stood, the capacity crowd at his mercy, this kick standing between victory and defeat. Golden point, 50 metres out into a gailforce wind - a lesser man would of missed it.

So it begs the question as we think back and look at all the great conversions, what is the greatest conversion of all time?

I hate to give him any credit now ( becuase of his union involvment) but Michael O'connor's conversion in driving rain in the 91' state of origin is the best i have ever seen.

that match was arguably one of the greatest games ever.

LOL @ a 50 metre conversion. Why would someone take the ball back 50 metres for a conversion. Sounds like something Andrew Johns would do.

Covell's kick was a penalty goal, which unfortunately voids this thread...

 you's still woulda had 9 minutes to win if he missed it..

and you's shoulda had the game won before golden point if Covell could kick under pressure from the sideline - not just directly in front

If i remember correctly and i may be wrong but joeys kick was against the storm a few years back and it was a penalty on full time from a kick off out on the full...i think knights smashed them like 50ish to a low score and the kick was banana style off the tee?

I remember seeing Ross Conlon kick some crackers back in the 80's. Kicked 'em from the other side of the halfway. Remember they weren't playing with synthetic balls back then - these were the big, heavy leather things that absorbed sh!t loads of moisture.

Possibly the softest penalty of all time.

I'm pretty sure covells kick was 41 meters but a good kick anyway

 Oh well don't let truth get in the way of a good story.

The Sharks would be better off practising goalkicking somewhere else in the side, because Luke Covell is the biggest nuffy in the NRL and the sooner he makes way for Karl Filiga to come into the team and push Simmons back out onto the wing ,the better.

Mitch brown will be in before Filiga.. Perhaps Brown to replace Covell outright soon and Filiga to replace Simmons later on in the year

Last year when Covell was playing extremely well, there was a notable absence of this BBSF.. Who obviously isn't a Sharks fan.

He needs some new material.. Soon he'll need to find someone else to stalk.
