The Godfather II: One of the rare sequels that is often considered better than the film that spawned it - which is high praise when you're the sequel of one of the greatest movies of all time.

Life is Beautiful: Roberto Beningni's heart-wrenching look at the Holocaust is both tragic and sweet, and rode a wave of hype to several Oscars despite being in Italian.

Jaws: Terrified an entire generation of beach-goers and one of the few horror movies to make this list. A classic in mixing suspense, gore, and character development.

The Seven Samurai: Doesn't get the praise it deserves in Western culture, but is one of the most complete films ever made.

Ed Wood: Tim Burton's delightful biopic about the worst director of all time, Ed Wood. Jonny Depp is at his scene stealing best in this quirky tale.

Very tough group.

Had to go for Seven Samurai though. That movie really is perfect in every way. The acting was awesome, the storyline and charcter development unravelled to perfection; and despite minimal action sequences in an over 3 hour movie I never for a second lost interest.

Unfortunately most people are scared off it by the fact that it's a 1950's Japanese movie. As i would have been a few years ago.

After picking Godfather in the first group, I'm going to have to follow that up with the sequel

Toughest group yet. Godfather 2 & Seven Samurai are freaking brilliant. I love Ed Wood as well. That could be because of i've got a soft spot for plan 9 though.

Godfather it is though.

I liked Ed Wood but it was a dreadful movie to convince anyone to have a look at.

For the 5 years my oldies owned a video shop a few years back, only one movied hired less than Ed Wood. Billy's Holiday.

I voted for Jaws.

The Godfather series didn't interest me and neither did LIB, Ed Wood was very good and 7 Samurai was great but Jaws f**ked a whole generation up. Anyone who saw that at the theatre didn't look at the beach the same way for years afterwards.

Was that the Aussie movie with the old Aussie actor (who's name escapes me atm ... Max something ? Was it Max Cullen ???) singing exactly like Billy Holiday herself ? Great flick that one.
