A great point Mr Sharkie, though the bird watchers will let you know that the prodigal son actually passed three times on the weekend (which brought his season total to four - even though no one actually saw the other one pass that he has been credited for this season).

I'd like to see a comparison in stats for tries and try assists - Kimmorley/Dykes/Bird.

I like bird ... but i would rather see him in the pack than the 5/8 role.

is that the same jack gibson who played craig dimond on ivan henjak ??

one of the great decisions he made at cronulla playing a second rower against a very nimble and elusive back!!
jack gibson obviously didnt practice what he preached!

the myth that bird doesnt pass , what a joke !!

Food for thought as far as the Dykes-Bird or Dykes-Sully combos go in regards to ball-playing...
Offloads: Sully 16 Bird 12
Kicks: Sully: 14 Bird 0
Try Assists: Sully 2 Bird 0
Handling Errors: Sully 3 Bird 8

Are they stats for 2005? 12 offloads by Bird?

I agree though, Bird is not a 5/8th. He's improving in his new role, should have let that alone.

I think selecting Bird as 5/8th is an error, and shifting Dykes to half is error two. That already destroys continuity. IMO it'd be far better instead to keep Dykes as 5/8th and just slot Sullivan or Merritt in at #7. Then have someone like Kingston on the bench, so that if you really want to should the game get physical Sullivan/Merritt could come off and have Gallen or Hilder play for them to tighten up the defence.
