Cheque book? Who mentioned cheque book for Bird?

He owes us a season of football. Next years on the house isn't it?

Good news all round. Most of the loose ends are now squared away. I hope there's money left for Rieck and Beatie tho.

there have been a few comments on the forum from various posters ( particularly mcjoey) who feel getting players 'cheap or under their value"
is good business!

as i said in an earlier post price is only one part of any transaction.

there is already one player shitty with his deal and whilst i dont support paying overs i think bird will be in a strong position to negotiate at the end of 2006.

lets hope so anyway.

I hope so too, because it would mean he had considerably improved his attitude, performance and discipline...

Is indeed interesting Jimmy,

Although I read into it differently, it seems the offer over 2 years was big enough to entice him to sign longer term, rather than one year only.

Im glad about him staying though, a genuine star in the making.

I am genuinely delighted at this news. I will steer away from the p word which was widely used to describe the future talents of messrs Best and Richardson, but I feel that Bird has natural talent and could well be a star of the future.

Birds best football is definately in front of him, which makes him an exciting buy.
