I like Gus as much as the next bloke, but he was 8 years old when St George won their 11th premiership on the trot. Not sure he deserves much credit
Garbage men and labourers playing for a bit of fun in an unprofessional Sydney comp just don't quite match up and we all know that

And for Gus to be bleating that it was a try in the women's SOO when the ball did not touch the ground is ridiculous. Therefore if a Bulldogs defender gets their hand under the ball he will not have any issues if the referee stills award the try to the opposition.
To be fair, I did see the premise of his rant. Without a video ref at any grade, it would have been a try...but it wasn't a try, so if he was balanced (he's not) he would have said it's a try at any grade but unfortunately she got caught out.

His commentary was very phony in the women's state of origin. He sounded like an old guy who thinks it is funny women play football.
Was he in charge when the Panthers refused to show any interest in playing in the WNRL?
Yeah, he shouldn't be given women's RL to commentate on. He clearly has no interest in it.
Well you know he has already sacked the NRLW coach of the Bulldogs before they even played a game.

I know the story behind it but its not for public forum.

Gus covered it up beautifully.

It's been in the public forum for ages

It was obviously another era but if the 11 in a row was so easy to achieve by a bunch of labourers, then how come no other team either before or after them have come anywhere near that?

And maybe they weren't athletes because players had a day job and sport was amateurish back then.

Silly comparison.

The game is almost unrecognisable to those guys now. Are there even any members on here who saw that Dragons team play? Give them the same opportunities in coaching and training and I'm sure plenty of them would be fantastic.

The only guy I can think of who could parachute into the modern age from black and white tv/wireless days and dominant sport is Bradman. Freak of a human being.

We should just appreciate the feats of players and teams in their own era. It's like saying the nuffies of today averaging over 50 in cricket using bats thicker than a 4 x 2 with shorter boundaries who block and the ball races away to the boundary are better than guys like Border, Chappell, Viv and other greats of yesteryear.

It's true.

Uncovered wickets back then too.

I see Gus talking up Mahoney for soo 2 to make him a more attractive target to help dogs get move him on.

Never an opinion without an agenda.

Most of them have passed away or are well into their 80's now so that's a bit unfair for the Dragons guys having big Payne hurtling towards them

Harry Grant was also easily the worst player on the field Wednesday
