Kiwi Test forward Awen Guttenbeil is set to become the latest NRL star to join the Catalan Dragons for their debut in Super League next season, according to reports in New Zealand.
Guttenbeil, the Warriors best player when they were beaten 28-18 by Parramatta in Waikato on Saturday night, is said to have agreed to a deal when Catalans Chairman Bernard Guasch was in Auckland 10 days ago to watch his star recruit Stacey Jones in action.
Jones is said to have recommended Guttenbeil, who has played eight Tests for New Zealand (2002-03) and two World Cup games for Tonga (1995).
He joined the Warriors a year after his World Cup appearances and has since played 137 matches for the Auckland club.
