yeah, i read that too.

surely if they can entice him to France we could have got hold of him at some time in the past 3-4 years and got him involved in our club once again!

an excerpt from here http://www.theaustralian.news.com.au/story/0,25197,24284564-2722,00.html

Already there has been speculation about the future of Parramatta's Michael Hagan and Penrith's Matthew Elliott, given their clubs have limped out of finals contention.

Despite having another year to run on his contract, Elliott is understood to be under the most pressure to keep his job past this season.

Several coaches, including St Helens' Daniel Anderson, North Queensland assistant Ian Millward, Castleford's Terry Matterson and Folkes have been linked to Penrith.

Hagan has been told by club management that a decision on whether he is retained past 2009 will be made in the off season.

"(Eels chief executive) Denis (Fitzgerald) has pointed out the process and I'm pretty comfortable with that to be honest," Hagan said.

"No one wants to underperform but I think there have been some reasons for that without making excuses."

like sh*t defence?

soft forward pack?

no cohesion after 25 rounds?

poor coaching?

enlighten me you gumby!

They weren't playing for each other. And only came up with the right talk about that at the end of the season when it was too late, and it only lasted a couple of games.

If they made a mystery-style telemovie out of a situation like ours this season, you'd put money on the detective finding out that one of the forwards was getting amongst it with a teammates wife, or something like that.

Dont worry - its all part of the 'master plan'
Hages will tell the board that " we are pretty close to where we want to be right now"

Twiz, at the end of the day Hagan has had 2 years to mould the so called forward pack. What have we got, more of the same and watched other lesser clubs go past us.

His inabilty to move forward and structure the side to compete in the current competition, and the lack of drive and togetherness from the side, points to a rather ordinary coaching style. What you see is what you get, the press conferences and the lack lustre presence he provides has permeated the whole club. Time to move on, what we have is of the coaches creation, end of story

If Fitzy is retrenching long time staffers then there is no chance in hell he is going to pay two coaches wages next year - we are stuck with Hages unfortunately.

yeah i half suspect something is going on behind the scenes as well its blatantly obvious the players dont have their minds on football so what else are they all preoccupied with?

We obviously prefer ex players like Fairleigh as oppossed to our own, how long since weve seem an ex Eel of any kind involved with our club in a coaching capacity, Ron Hilditch?

And if any members of the Board buy that dribble, then they should never ever be voted back into their positions of responsibility again...

No point blaming Hages.

He has come from successful clubs and ends up broken at the eels.

Maybe the whole club should look in the mirror first and foremost

Take Andrew Johns out of that Newcastle team and they couldn't win anything , the success there was mainly through having one of the all time great players in the club ......as well as half a NSW state of origin team from the days of Malcom Reilly and Warren Ryan.......
