Hey Denis how about you come out and tell us "this will be your last year" and make 2009 our year. Then we might just get one of our greats come back and lead our chargers, or at least have a input into our great club.

links to the western reds? :sarcasm:
From what Denis said at the Season Ticket Holders forum, he has been working with the Junior sides as a team manager for many years and in the last few started to deal with Player Managers assisting Tony Zappia with the NRL role.
I don't know how you go from Team Manager to Football Operations manager.
Seriously though, is it just the old commie/unionist in me that finds something terribly disturbing about a workplace culture where a guy gets the arse a day before his wife gives birth?

Nope.
I find it even more disturbing that it happened mid-season, and Jarad, along with Grant and Kaye, have been around the club a long time and are considerably well liked and it was done a couple of days out from the Bulldogs game.......
Not sure why something like that can be left until the end of the season.

The old commie/unionist in you should also understand the concept of redundancy payments. Sacking a guy with that many years service wouldn't be cheap. I couldn't believe that a team that is that soft on the players and coaching staff would do this, so I would suggest that a little under the table agreement was made so he could get the extra redundancy from dismissal.
Speaking redundancy payments, all you guys who keep calling for DF's head should consider what it would cost to pay out someone who earns over $400k and has worked for the club over 20 years!
That the thing about sacking people, they have to pay out the redundancy on top of all the other entitlements that have made provisions for. I'd suggest with Denis the payout including the provisions you mentioned would run into the millions. How long has Anderson been at the club?
FFS....the day before his wife gives birth??
Bit of a coincidence, maybe he needed the extra cash for the baby and was leaving anyway, or they really are bastards!
Regardless of whether Fitzy was to get the arse or retire, with 20 years there would, I imagine, be quite a weighty liability that the club have, ie long service that he would be fully entitled to....whether he was to be sacked or retire.
