The issue is meeting them at school. If that hadn’t of happened I couldn’t care less, but you can’t have NRL players visiting schools and picking up girls.

So as long as they’re not from a school they’ve ever visited it’s A-OK for them to sleep with school girls? Gotcha.

You were a fully mature man at 23 were you? Pfft don’t think so.

Apparently the girls were 18. Even less of a big deal if true.

I'm not "fully mature" all the time now mate. But at 23/24 you're not a kid. "Kid" implies you don't know any better. These guys get so much education and training around situations like this there is no excuse. CHN was hauled through the integrity unit this time last year in connection to the Penrith pornos FFS. Although found to be at no fault then surely that should've opened his eyes a little.

Todd Carney disagrees, bad taste photo will do it.

Much the same as the present case. People just can’t get their head around that some school girls are sexually active and if they’re of the legal age, it’s their prerogative.

Just like Carney they couldn’t get their head around him doing a silly prank.

It’s funny how sanctimonious people get when a footy player does something unsavory.

Ok, well your idea of “kid” and mine in this context were different is all. I agree they should’ve known better, but like I said it was only the association with a school they’d visited and a girl there. We don’t even know if she was a student at that school or it was just the location of the function.

Anyway, I can understand the NRL and Bulldogs concerns, but really unless you’re strictly religious, guys hooking up with girls these ages shouldn’t be so outrageous.

There are some people who think it's all fair game, probably the same creeps who'd try to bang the work experience kids at their work but in any case seeing that a potential sponsor has withdrawn their sponsorship and the NRL's response indicates that many people believe this behaviour whilst not criminal is inappropriate

What’s the diff if they met anywhere but a school?

I know it’s a far out idea but guys and girls of this age bracket meet in a myriad of places. They often hook up, even more so when they’re high profile sportsmen.

This isn’t considerate of the NRL aspect but of your inquiry of “how would you feel if your daughter did it”. Now you’ve moved the goal posts to “pissed that where you send her for an education exposed her to highly unprofessional conduct with grown, pro footballers who absolutely know better.”

Again, if you’re so worried about 23/24 y.o blokes getting it on with 18 year olds and a teacher you’re probably just green with envy.

It wasn't moving the goalposts, I just added the extra layers of grubby like they met through a school clinic.

Not anyone can just walk into a school and mingle with students. There is a level of trust given to these guys when they make these visits.

Any concern I have is for the game. The optics are terrible. Mine or your opinion doesn't mean shit but the company that just yanked a $2M sponsorship at the 11th hour? Their opinion matters, whether you like that or not.

Yeah mate I'm in my mid 30s I got no interest in teenagers. I certainly do not envy these lads. Lost my employer $2M, my highly paid career in jeopardy, face all over the news - wow sounds awesome! And all for some teenage minge.

Fair enough.

At least you can have a discussion and not cast aspersions, or make presumptions.

Cheers. I appreciate the same from you. I think we can all agree it's a shit go 2 days from 2020 kickoff but thank f**k the footy will be back in less than 24 hours and we get back to ref bashing.

If someone is able to successfully make the legal argument that these two, while at the school, were acting as teachers, they’re about to be in a shitload of trouble.

The legality around who in a school is qualified and registered as a teacher and who is
The question is what can the NRL do and how long can they stand them down?
Technically not illegal, so it becomes a code of conduct issue?

Who's defending this behavior?
It's beyond stupid

Well it's already directly cost the Dogs a 2 mill a year sponsor... MULTIPLIED by how many years that may have been for... AND how much it lowers the value of the next contract...
AND how much it damaged the BUlldogs brand... and the NRL brand... each leading to further loss of opportunities, viewers and money...

Actions have consequences and that is about as direct a line as I can draw for the morons who say they did nothing wrong & don't deserve a punishment...

Imagine fronting up to YOUR boss because you just cost him 2 MILLION in an immediate contract, destroyed the name of his family business, untold reputational dmg (honestly how much would you sue for if this was untrue & you were a player/Doggies? Millions) & created a viral shozstorm all because you ...

want to try and argue it is OK for you to root the clients schoolkid. School...kid.

Who you met on a school visit. At her school. While on company time.

Good luck fellas.

Have you ever held a position of responsibility where there was an inherent power imbalance or clear breach of professional standards if you became sexually involved with a subordinate or colleague? Yes? No? Maybe not in your field or position.

For vast segments of society this is absolutely a no no. Ethically & professionally wrong. They literally educate you about it in PD days & seminars & hey- the smae shiz they teach young NRL players about not rooting the kids on school trips?

Given the fact the Doggies just lost a 2,000,000 sponsoorship just maybe, the rest of society has a point worth considering about 24 year old professionals rooting SCHOOL KIDS they MET ON A SCHOOL VISIT... Just maybe?
