Ray Price, oh man, amazing.

For his size, Gary Coyne was also an amazing player. Only a little fella, but was always in there doing the hard yakka.

Jason Croker. In 2001 he won the John Sattler award after playing a match vs the Roosters with a partially torn MCL and a small fracture in the other leg. It was the ultimate match of attrition with Mark McLinden breaking his jaw, several other injuries and no-one left on the bench when Croker hurt himself.... so he stayed on and "defended" on the wing.

To stay out there was a simply inspiring sight for a Raiders fan - and we won in the dying stages too :D

I remember that day, i dead set felt like crying. That was guts and courage to the nTH degree.
Remember that time he was hit in the head by a crow bar? Rumour has it he still went after the guy!

Craig Gower is definitely in this category.

As for the Tigers incident, well, yes, it was over the top.

But the number of matches in 2003 where he played either carrying in or sustaining an injury during the match, and staying on to marshall his troops, was just phenomenal. An example - getting us home against the Broncos at Suncorp with a field goal, basically on one leg.

Toovey for sure.

Steve Menzies
(on Geoff Toovey): "It's amazing. All the big guys go for him, thinking they can run through him or over him. He just picks up the front-rowers and throws them away. You'd think they'd learn. We all just shake our heads and laugh. His toughness is incomparable."

He played a grand final with a fractured eye socket!

Clive Churchill played a finals match with a broken arm in 1955. Even kicked the winning goal after needing some one else to place the ball for him.

Can only comment on who I've seen...

Some that stand out:
Mark Broadhurst
Chris Mortimer
Crag Gower
Shane Webcke

Jeez....forgot about Broady.

There seems to be confusion between toughness and guts to play on
through all adversity and the real hard nuts of the game who will belt
you really hard in the first seconds of the game and chase you round,
belting you for the rest of it.

The Poms had a few good un's as well.

cheers
