No suprise Penrith are out. Kids in hm decide to go to the city the night before and dont get back til late. Then have to play the next day (or should i say that morning)

Go figure.

next years harold matthews team would mainly be from st marys ?
does anyone know when any junior development sqaud games are on ?

Penrith should be VERY strong next season. Considering they were winning the Coca Cola cup last year and beating sides from all over NSW (St Marys I mean) mix them in with some other players from clubs and it's a great side put forward.

Agree fully, st marys as the base and the best players from other stronger sides, st clair, brothers, windsor and h/m 2010 will be very strong. One player from h/m who did not even attend the last training session made an excuse i am told, but was actually on a party boat in the city fri night before the game, let down the whole team. your right again, go figure.

In your opinion what would be the strongest Harold Matthews side we can put on the field in 2010?

Our management will let all the good ones go and retain the gymps.

The saddest episode from this season's junior rep season was being beaten by the Roosters HM side. The side was predominately made up of Panthers juniors including a significant number of kids from the Glenmore Park club. Don't let the closeness of the scoreline fool, I was there and they flogged us. Very embarrasing.

In respect of the Ball side our forward pack alone should have taken us further but for reasons unknown to me they just never fired. I'm not sure there are many who are likely to make the step up to the Under 20's this season.

This season's results in the juniors and toyota cup side are a major concern.

We have very poor talent scouts and a very poor ability to select and retain the good players.

Nathan Antonelli is the only Penrith junior who should have been in the Penrith Squad. The other players of age, not BJ, who is a year younger, are gymps, as described by fibro.

I dont know about that micro, it is true that Nathan played well against Penrith and it is true that Penrith in the Harold Matts 09 age group had little to no quality halves but to be honest he is just another player.
He plays quite well for Glenmore Park in a team which has been coached brilliantly for the past few seasons, but has never done anything exceptional or even played consistently to prove himself a contender for the Penrith HB spot.

The rest is totally true no doubt about it.
Also i heard BJ has to stick with Roosters for 2010:lol: feel sorry for the kid if its true. Penrith U15s are shaping up to be a real strong team next year.

footyboy7, you have a good point re antonelli, i made my judgement on the lack of halves at Penrith as a comparison, Antonelli could not have been any worse, but maybe no better???What happened to Matt Hill from St Marys, he seemed to be a quality player, injuries???

Mate no disrespect to matty, but I played with him for years, and he really was a passenger in the St mary's team. St marys have struggled for years to find a good halfback, and he has been the only one to fill in the spot. Antonelli leaves him for dead, as do most halfbacks in the penrith comp.

Matt Hill is playing halfback for Brothers in 2009. he seems to be slowly reaching his peak by playing some quality footy. But of course atm Nathan Antonelli is the form halfback of the comp with no halves from Penrith and him playing HM for Roosters this season.

Its a bit harsh to say this considering Tai basically ran the show throughout the junior years. Therefore most players were passengers to his brilliance. I think that St Marys problem with last season was that they are too forward orientated. And do not use the quality of outer backs that they have. Playing most of there game up the middle.

mate i spose thats a valid comment, but st marys forwards are the reason theyu are so good. For example:

St marys forward pack 08

Tai tuivasa--Penrith
Jason Doran--Penrith
Tevita Vave--Penrith
Suni Fatialofa--Penrith
Joel waddel--Penrith
Jaziah Dawson--Souths
Peter Bent--Manly
Matthews Bowler--Manly

St marys backs 08

Ben Bridekirk--Western Acadamy
Joe-lee F--Western Acadamy
Johnny Tapuaga--Penrith

St marys whole forward pack plays harold matthews, that is why they are forward orientated :):)

i think you will see that st marys has a very big and powerful forward pack right through to the under 13s
many islander boys coming through at st marys

The two Penrith centres only two players in one position named in the suads from the one club. Big Tai has done well, but as said previosly the two centres are very highly rated not only by Penrith, but NSW selectors also, hope they both are really locked up to long term contracts as mentioned earlier. i hear there is interest north of the border??????????

Interesting in the western weekender Penrith are now advertising for applications for junior rep coaches .After the results of this year i think a changing of the people who select and identify talent may be needed as well
