you cant knock the kids for wanting to play footy , but the islanders ,as a whole, dont seem to have the same discipline as the rest. not a derogetory stance but it seems to be their way, foot loose and fancy free:crazy:

Yes the Ball team will make the quarters although they could finish as low as 11th depending on other results. As for players going up to 20s you wouldnt think there would be many in line Harry has gone up already but as they are also playing poorly a couple might get an undeserved shot. My guess Austin then who knows

With no disrespect to Pacific Islanders as a race, but I feel our junior sides are becoming dominated by Pacific Islanders.

My point: Having 13 Andrew Johns' on the paddock wouldn't necessarily result in a that team winning every game. To that end, as a general rule, the Pacific Islanders tend to be creative individual players, but as a general rule don't fit too well into a structured game plan.

I feel we are suffering as a result of junior sides dominated by Pacific Islanders.
About time someone said it well fibroman and lets sack jimmy jones what a joke penrith are because of HIM

Wouldn't Jake Seaton almost automatically go up to the under 20s? How has been going?

Have you people seen Parras roster in H/Mats or the unbeaten bulldogs ,I believe they have more Pacific Islander boys than us and it certainly has not hurt them as yet. Its easy to blame JJ ,coaches etc. but like Ive said before OVER RATED

I pulled my young bloke out of footy this year at the age of 14, because at 50kg is is playing against pacific islanders that are already well over 6 foot and near on 100kgs.

The reason they dominate the junior sides are mainly because of size. When they hit 18,19, 20, they come back to the field a bit, and we as a club have been pouring all our resources into developing these kids instead of having some common sense and realsing that some of them are only enjoying the success that they do at the junior level simply as a result of their size and not much else.
The sooner they bring back weight divisions in junior footy, the better. There are a lot of juniors leaving the game because they get sick of getting smashed every week by someone double their size.
It would be like asking Jarrod Sammut and Lachlan Coote to play in the front row and have 2 hit ups every set of 6.
It's brain dead stuff.
This is nothing personal against islanders as a race, because they bring a great mix of culture to Australia and as a general rule they are great people. It's not their fault that their kids get big alot younger than the other races. It is the problem of our management and recruiting policies that our junior sides are failing.

I am a 15 year old white boy of roughly 55 kilos playing rugby league and i dont believe there is a significant difference. Simple tackle them and they go down. I believe your son must of been unwilling to play fi he looked for an excuse sucj as there are too many islanders. DEAL WITH IT and toughen up.

So Hm and Ball finish 8th and 9th respectively and now have to play Newcastle in Matts and Gold Coast in Ball next wk. These will be 2 extremely tough games and unfortunately I can see both Penrith teams going out in the first round

I think you will find matts finished 7th, cronulla had 5 wins/ 10 points, 8th on %. Penrith then play magpies, the winner then plays winner Manly v St George, penrith have beaten both in the rounds???

Im sorry fibroman, im gonna have to agree with brothers34 on this one.
If you are passionate enough about something you proceed no matter what the consequences or obstacles.
Yes majority of the islanders die out but the few that make it are not always the ones that dominated the junior scene.
If you are scared about any reason in footy then dont play. THATS IT.
These Islanders they still have two arms and two legs like you and me, and so what if they are bigger then you and come as a challenge, thats what happens in Rugby League.

Full credit to you for having a go.

I just hope you don't finish up with a serious injury if you get hammered by someone double your size.

You are missing my point.

If all young blokes had your attitude it wouldn't be a problem, but I am suggesting that alot of talented kids that are giving the game away because of the risk of injury which is a direct result of a huge size difference.

Bumps and bruises heal in time, but a broken neck doesnt.

You're entitled to your opinion, but I still think they need to bring weight divisions into junior footy.

I believe we have a serious shortage of skillful half backs and five eights right across the board in the NRL. Have you ever asked yourself the question why?

I have just given you a possible answer. You can agree or disagree.

Fibromn you mention that talented kids are giving it away. However if a player is truely talented he is able to deal with this. Darren Lockyer and such must deal with it even at NRL and thst is talent.

Darren Lockyer started playing footy about 20 years ago... he wasn't playing against blokes twice his size as a kid. He was allowed to develop as a player and build up to where he is today. He might have thrown the game away if he was having to play against kids twice his size while learning the game.

A lot of potentially great players could be giving up the game at a young age due to the disadvantages they face. Even if they're talented enough to get around the size issue, they might never stick with it long enough to realise their true potential. As these blokes develop as players, they can become stronger and/or bulk up to the point where they can compete with these guys.

I'm all for bringing in weight divisions to help keep kids interested in the game and with any luck improve the appeal of League to younger players.

Why would anyone believe anything selector or any other person on here say.

Clearly they have a problem with certain people. Giving player ratings based on what they think is a joke.

Selector has been negative to most players... perhaps it's a case of their kid missing out.
