Half Time
Manly 20 Parramatta 10

Apparently the boys are again playing poorly. We're down 16-0 but have managed to close the gap to 10 points at the half.

Leroy Williams injured his knee in the first couple of minutes and looks like his season is over.

Parramatta 20 Manly 20.

Two quick tries to open the 2nd half. Manly's forwards had the best of the first half with Parra relying on tries from broken play.

From the kickoff to open the 2nd half a Parramatta prop ran 60 metres but no try resulted. In the space of a couple of minutes Parra added a try from a 60 metre run by the winger to make it 20-14 before the hooker crashed over under the sticks to make it 20all.

Full Time
Manly 24 Parramatta 20

Parra got a penalty on full time from 40 out but missed the shot at goal. Manly scored a try to win it in golden point.

oh well, kinda expected it to be honest the Harold Matthews team haven't played well for a few weeks.

Only problem is that all losers get eliminated in the 1st week regardless of where they finish on the ladder.

Redback: Yep

It's so they can get the finals done in 3 weeks instead of the 4 it takes in the NRL.

but they still play the games as

1 v 8
2 v 7
3 v 6
4 v 5

Last year in one of the grade Parra finished 1st (undeafted) played the 8th placed Raiders in the 1st week, lost and they were out of the comp having only lost 1 game all year

Thats very disappointing news...I have coached a number of boys in the team and they were very confident of winning the competition. They definbately had the players to win it just not the coach... However, I am of the understanding that Parramatta made a number of budget cuts in the off season and this including junior coaches and trainers.

the same thing happened last year... they lost their final 2 games of the regular season then lost the 1st qualifying final.

i was shocked when Roger and Ramis turned up at Mounties only an hour and a half after that game - ready to play for Guildford - I didn't know the score and thought they were only watching. Roger ended up playing Ramis hadn't received his NSWRL Clearance.
