It is no coincidence that Lazo won a Grand Final (7 GF appearances) at every club he played for, Premierships in 89, 90, 92, 93, 97 and 99...how in the hell is he not the most dominant prop of his time let alone the 90's?

If you wanted to win a premiership, you made a play for the 'Brick with eyes'.

Glen Lazarus Origin Career

19 Appearances - 13 run on - 6 bench - 11 wins

89 - Game 1 - Bench LOST 6-36 (Starting props P. Dunn/J. Cartwright)
90 - Game 1 - Bench WON 8-0 (Startin props S. Roach/I. Roberts)
90 - Game 2 - Bench WON 12-6 - (Startin props S. Roach/I. Roberts)
90 - Game 3 - Starting LOST 10-14
91 - Game 1 - Bench LOST 6-4 (Startin props S. Roach/I. Roberts)
92 - Game 1 - Starting WON 14-6
92 - Game 2 - Starting LOST 4-5
92 - Game 3 - Starting WON 16-4
93 - Game 1 - Starting WON 14-10
93 - Game 2 - Starting WON 16-12
93 - Game 3 - Starting LOST 12-24
94 - Game 1 - Starting LOST 12-16
94 - Game 2 - Starting WON 14-0
96 - Game 1 - Starting WON 14-6
96 - Game 2 - Starting WON 18-6
96 - Game 3 - Starting WON 15-14
98 - Game 2 - Bench WON 26-10 (R. Howe/P. Harrogan)
98 - Game 3 - Starting LOST 19-4
99 - Game 1 - Bench LOST 8-9 (Starting props J. Stevens/R. Howe)

The poll is about Harrogan vs Webcke, again, both are greats, though Webcke is the better prop out of the two players at all levels.

The Top 3 Props of My Time
(88-today)

1 - Glen Lazarus
2 - Shane Webcke
3 - Paul Harrogan

If we are talking about splitting of hairs, it is more between the top 2 for mine.

Lazarus was better than Chief AND Webcke in my opinion. But saying Spud was tougher than Chief is garbage. Chief was twice the prop Carroll was, and twice as tough. Spud got rocked by Russell Crowe

anyone remember webkce vs harragon at marathon in 1999? sunday afternoon game...they went at each other like bulls, but neither gave an inch. If it was boxing it would be a 10 10 round

It was Harragon's second last game, and he went absolutely ballistic! One of my favourite Knights matches.

All up I'd rate Harragon and Webcke pretty even ... but would have to agree with everyone else who'd have Lazarus over both of them. No doubt he was the best prop going around in the 90s.

Harragon will probably always be my favourite player though ... probably the most passionate player to pull on the red and blue. If we had a few more like him these days we would have at least one win!!!

True..pity he retired early, if he'd of had a few more years...who knows :)

how old was Harragon when he had to retire anyways?

Born October 68, so he was 30.

In the run-up to 1999 he was looking at it being his final season, if it wasn't for his knees I'm sure that wouldn't have been the case though. Of course, he wound up not even making it through the season ...

James.

R&BK...maybe you can make another poll though replace Shane Webcke (correctly nominated as the better player by the majority) with guys like Martin Bella, Andew Gee, Mark Carroll etc. in order to get the result desired?

Lazarus , Webcke and Harragon can all be held in the highest echelon of props , I'm hoping O'Meley will be the next cab off the rank.

Webcke would be throwen the first jumper in any team in any era. No other player turns up every week and plays with such commitment and determination. He is such a work horse and does not want to ever let his team mates and coach down.

Your a deadset tool. How about a bring up one of your wonderful SOO 2 predictions, perhaps you should change your sig to that post where you said Johns would NOT dominate and WOULDN'T win Motm. Idiot.....

I got my result, i found out who the majority think is better.

I don't think Webcke is better, there probally the same. At is prime though Chief was near unstoppable. Case in point, 97 grand final.

Oh so we've got tWebcke been selected in any team from any ear before the Immortals???

Idiot.

So touchy R&BK? Why am I not surprised  My post was not a direct dig at yourself to be totally honest, more a tounge in cheek post...though as you have proven on many occassions, when you have members not agreeing with you, you resort to "trash posting" or spit the dummy taking off for a few days e.g. Newcastle vs Brisbane game.

As for my S.O.O. predictions my little Red and Blue friend, I raised my hand that night and for the remainder of that week in the S.O.O. forum getting it wrong...I doubted the ability of Johns to come back and dominate (I was not the only NSW or QLD supporter in Australia to do that) and made it known to the open forum. I have no problem with getting it wrong there, I copped it sweet from NSW fans...and deservedly so.

Nice attempt avert attention back to that though :round of applause:

We all have our bias, it's part an parcel of RLeague, though on every damn topic? Is it called for? Harrogan is better than every prop, so is Joey Johns, Steve Simpson is the toughest player in the game, Joey is the only player I have seen that can kick it from anywhere on the field...give it a rest

Not until you give the Lockyer is the greatest player in the world thing a rest. The man can't tackle.

Simpson is the toughest in the game, want a list of some of the things he has done?

Didn't say Harragon was better then any prop, Just asked about him and Webcke.

Joey is the only player I HAVE SEEN that can kick them from anywhere. El masri probally could do it, but i'm yet to see him kick it from half way. Get the piont idiot?

I posted in the days after the newcastle vs Broncos game but was i making any stupid remarks like Lockyer won't be mom and Johns will make Lockyer look liek sh*t? No it was you the other way around before Origin 2. You still can't admit Johns is a class above Lockyer.

Dman right i'm biased... i haven't missed a game since round 3... i cheer them off the field every time they lose. I love my mighty Knights and that won't ever chnage.

Is that why 5 of the 1996 top 8 were ARL teams?

You cannot get away from Darren Lockyer can you? It must eat at you that once again his peers voted as him as the game's best player...AGAIN

Simpson is the toughest in the game, want a list of some of the things he has done?

Perhaps in the TOUGH GUY thread...funnily enough, your the only one nominating the guy, but each to their own. Not really the carer either the way, if you have the time, enlighten us all.

You should really write to NBN and demand you get to see more FTA games involving other teams.

You still can't admit Johns is a class above Lockyer.

No, as I don't believe he is in today's game. Deal with it.

I have tears in my eyes...
