Has Grothe found some ticker?

How will Grothe jr perform now he's back with the Eels?
I thought he was a player with potential, but he seemed to lack ticker, commitment. He also took a swipe at Parra when he left.

Maybe his dad should show him replays of his years at Parra.

Am I being to harsh? Hopefully he will prove me wrong.

I believe Smith has said something along the line of, "if you dont put your body on the line and toughen up more than you did when you were last here, i won't play you in first grade"...

or something to that effect.

Will be interesting to see how he performs but if he can get his mind into the game and his body at 100% he'll be one of the best wingers in the comp.

Hayden Knowles.. said that Jnr Grothe is breaking alot of his Personal Bests from both his previous stint at parra and his time at the Roosters... he also stated that Jnr is training the house down and is going great guns and has never seen Guru so committed...

I was very excited when I heard that Grothe was coming back to where he belongs. I believe that this is the make or break year for him. I have faith in the man. On his day he is a class winger that I would not swap for any in the NRL.

I don't know. I mean, I don't know what he's like. I never seen him play.

I DO know however that if he performs we have Prince, Katavarata, Halliday and Gruszka (please correct me if I am wrong; these last two are wingers, right?) not to mention Graham to take his spot.

So if Guru Jnr doesn't live up to his potential (I AM SURE HE WILL THOUGH), there is enough cover.

Halliday is a centre but John Williams is another winger who is training with the 1st grade sqaud.

Hope I am wrong, but I'm not doing handstands over Guru's return.

An outstanding attacking talent and a really great person off the field.

However, what worries me is his defence. Not so much in his tackling, but as to how he reads the play. Too many times he gets caught out of position and he makes the wrong decisions that costs us tries - and this is why he is in the reserves.

However:

(1) If he scores so many tries a game where the opposition can't get a crack at attacking down his side it doesn't matter how bad his defence is!

(2) In whichever wing he plays, he will have a great centre inside him to help him out defensively.

(3) That is what training is for.

gee, theres some healthy competition for ouur wing spots this year, cos there's another kid called Matt Lantry who played the first grade trials in QLD last year, and is quick as hell, from what we've seen of him so far he could probably be pushing for a spot late this year too!!

Are we talking Matt Lantry the ex knights lower grader? Because if you are then he must have improved a hell of alot.
