Has it ever happened?

Is anyone aware if anything like what Parra have achieved - 3rd last to Grand Finalists has ever happened before - in any sport?

It would have to be some sort of all time record wouldn't it? I think I recall something similar happening in American College Football but my memory is sketchy.

On another note I was thinking last night about other teams seasons that Parra have ended this year. Amazing -

Tigers R24
Panthers R25
Saints SF1 (I know that technically it was the Broncos but we put them on the path to Suncorp)
Manly SF1 :lol:
Titans SF2
Bulldogs QF

Its hard to say, I cant really remember but its been an amazing run that i thought would end Week 1 of the finals, Unbeliveable, Go the Mighty Eels.

Mind you - there were only 10 teams back then so not quite as much of a turnaround.

You'd think with the amount of pro sports in the world in so many different countries ti would have happened many a time. American football would get more publicity, but that's not to say other less pro comps haven't done the same.

From one season to the next...."worst to first" is not too uncommon in American sports.
Just last year the Tampa Bay Rays fell at the last hurdle in their attempts to go from worst to first in MLB. Aussies own Grant Balfour was a pitcher on the Rays team that lost in the World Series.
The trade and draft system allows teams to turn their fortunes around quilckly.
