Why do people seem to think Des Hasler is the answer? The Bulldogs halves are a disgrace and their forwards are playing the completely wrong style for their size, which results in a stunted attack. Why would we want more of what we already have?

If we have signed Hasler he won't be available till next season. I really don't see any announcement until the season is over.
His signing is widely being reported by league writers that he has signed. But that is just rumours to sell their newspaper.
I have a funny feeling that Mary will be here for the entire season and the earliest I would expect is when the bullscum and us are out of the eight.
Hasler signing to coach us might just be newspaper talk. I hope the rumours are right but nothing would surprise me with Doust involved

In 2004, Des Hasler was appointed head coach of the Manly-Warringah Sea Eagles. In the 2005, 2006 and 2007 seasons he led the team to the semi-finals for the first time since the late 1990s
He coached Manly to a record breaking 40–0 2008 NRL Grand Final victory over the Melbourne Storm.[2]

In 2008 he was named the Rugby League International Federation's Coach of the Year at the RLIF Awards.[3]

After failing to win the 1987 World Club Challenge with Manly as a player, he won it with them as coach in 2009.

He took Manly to the finals again in 2009 and 2010, but lost a final in each year to be eliminated from the finals.

He coached his 200th First Grade game on 13 August 2011 when Manly defeated their traditional rivals Parramatta 26–20 at Parramatta Stadium. The win was also Hasler's 117th win as a coach.

In 2011 Manly finished 2nd on the NRL ladder. Manly defeated the Cowboys 42–8 at the SFS for their first finals win since 2008. Manly went on to win the 2011 NRL Grand Final. He was named coach of the year at the RLIF Awards.[4]
Hasler joined the Bulldogs on 14 November 2011 as head coach for the 2012 NRL season.[7] He had immediate success as he took the club to finish eight places better than the previous season to the top of the ladder and collected the minor premiership. After impressive Qualifying Final and Preliminary Final wins; 16-10 over former club Manly-Warringah Sea Eagles and 32-8 over South Sydney Rabbitohs respectively, the Bulldogs were beaten in the Grand Final by the Melbourne Storm 14–4.[8] At the 2012 Dally M Awards Hasler was named the NRL's coach of the year.
Qualifying-Elimination final 22-6 at Stadium Australia. In the 2014 NRL Season Canterbury finished once place lower compared to the previous season and just limped home into the Finals Series in 7th place but nobody foresaw what was to happen in the finals that season, Hasler led his 7th placed Bulldogs through three weeks of sudden-death Rugby League to amazingly reach the Grand Final after impressively scalping past Melbourne Storm 28-4 at AAMI Park in the Qualifying-Elimination final, Manly-Warringah Sea Eagles18-17 after Extra-Time at Sydney Football Stadium in the Semi-final and Penrith Panthers 18-12 in the Preliminary final at Stadium Australia but they ultimately lost to hot title contenders South Sydney Rabbitohs30-6 in the Grand Final at Stadium Australia missing inspirational captain Michael Ennis but the club, players and Hasler won a lot of creditors in their performances through the finals that year and for reaching 2 Grand Finals in the last three years!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yeah but Mary got us to a final in 2015 and it went to extra time.

every hasler side fights tooth & nail regardless of talent.

you have to well & truly earn a victory over them. they are consistent.

i'd take this instead of the mediocre tripe dished up for the last 5 seasons.

wouldn't you?

has the possibility been raised that supercoach price has been signed by douche again?

after all he has probably taken in a lot of premiership ideas under flanno at the sharks just as he did under creeping at our joint.

he is now fully equipped for success.

Three cups of soap, girgled for three hours in your mouth , rinse and repeat. If problem persists increase to 6 cups of soap and repeat.

Any update? Or is it 'tomorrow never comes'.
I did ask today but apparently did not see him on the weekend.

I have basically begged them to ask so will let you know as soon as I know.

He did say (on his own opinion) that Des would never go back to Manly as 'that bridge is well and truely burnt', but did say 'what about the warriors'... surely not but hey, crazier things have happened

The Warriors have just signed their new coach and besides, it would be a very long drive from Auckland to Sydney's northern beaches.

No idea, I did say that myself, but just passing on the comment.

He did say why would Des go to the dragons, I said the likes of Ben Hunt would not sign/be re-signing with us if something wasn't in the pipeline, career suicide.

Anyways, take it or leave it. Just passing on the comments made

Where does Des live now?

This may be common knowlge already, but he used to live in Wombarra (which is in the northern suburbs of Wollongong for those of you who are unfamiliar with God's Country).

Wouldn't be too much of a stretch to try to convince him to head back down that way. From memory he's a surfer?? Either way, the beaches and lifestyle are idyllic.

Currently in Collaroy, right on the beachfront where a lot of houses were lost recently in the storms.

... and yes you make some good points about previously living south and being a surfer
