I just think Hastings would have had better options near the opposition try line than Brooks, but it’s all hypothetical, so now Brooks has gone and we start a new chapter.
A lot easier on the pocket.
Let us digress and look at the current contractual differences between Cleary at 1.3m and Brooksy at 1.1m.
And we work out that Nate costs 16% more.
And then compare the calibre of player.
My guess is that Brooksy is not at 84% of Nates smugnificence.
And certainly Manlys deal at 700 puts him at about 53% of Nate in value.
And we can work out that our offer to Brooksy was even less than this-thanks to Lees 360 appearance.
He didn’t mention the figure, but Brooksy and his robber baron manager felt insulted to the point of a tanty where he didn’t even get back to us. Boo Hoo!
So I assume our offer was half or less of Nate which seems to me is closer. And in a rare display of unity, I backed Fulton and the club 100% with the unusual and shock decision to add some actual truth into our r&r. Knocked over!!
Brooksy sought a release, at least twice, rumoured to be three times, last season to Newcastle and we botched it badly by sending Hastings.
I suspect that last year, Brooksy got wind that the good financial times were coming to an abrupt end.
Hes cashed in his venerated Wests Tigers eternal old boy status for the difference between his 700 and our offer. It’s very ordinary after the massive overs he’s been paid for years and years.
It was one of the few remarks Lee made in that 360 interview I could fully connect with and shared his dim view of Brooksy.
Tim’s strategy of talking him up achieved very little. In fact the outcome was that he left lol. Another stellar effort from SuperCoach.
I think Seibs has got a lot of work to do on him to keep him consistent. I think it’s impossible.
I don’t hate or despise Brooksy, but I’m glad he’s on his way. There’s a solid snout we don’t need.
Manlys problem now. They’ve got no idea I think. If he proves me wrong, all power to him, but he won’t.
