How do you know the current players don't want to play for Samoa and NSW/Qld? Since they are Samoan and also from NSW/Qld?

I would say that a lot of players (like Lafai, Vidot, McGuire etc.) want to play for Samoa, NSW/QLD and Australia.
They think that they are entitled to play for every country they are eligible for.
They don't quite get it (nor do some of the RLIF) that RL is an international sport and must have strict laws like the Olympics, IRB and FIFA.
The problem is this Australian (yes Australian!) mentality that players like Lafai and McGuire have, whereby they see playing for Samoa as "helping them out", rather than making a conscious decision to pick the country they want to play for, for the long-term (not short-term!).

100% spot on. There are no consequences for their decisions, they think (or know) they can do whatever they want.

The sports you mentioned have regular tests we don't. I would love tomorrow a 10 year plan with every team playing 3 tests. Then we make the 1 nation for life

The NRL runs the Australian game and raises over $300m a year from Australians for that purpose.
The NRL funds the Pacific nations to play tests (other than RLWC) otherwise they would play in even less than they do know.
SOO has over taken tests because other nations have dropped the ball on developing the game so rather than blame the NRL or SOO the other nations need to do some work.

True, though I see it more as "helping themselves out"...
Ie selfish me me me type decisions, where they think they can do whatever they want.

but what england would never do is dictate that players must play for lancashire or yorkshire to be eligible for england...

you understand??

ps...theres no such law that states australia could select players from ESL...but u already knew that..

pps....england not picking aussies for a non-test....isn't a "choice"....fml

Wrong way round, your example should be "must be eligible for England to play for Lancs or Yorks"...

Btw I think that's reasonable.

the ARLC "runs the game" http://www.rugbyleague.com.au/commission/leaguestructure.php

no it does'nt..... but anyhow how many tests do you "think" they've funded??

SOO has over taken tests because other nations have dropped the ball on developing the game so rather than blame the NRL or SOO the other nations need to do some work.

england (the RFL) set up and funds the RLEF....if you think the RLEF haven't developed RL in europe during the last 11 years than you are clueless pal...and i certainly don't know what ball you think they've dropped??

like i said everything you wrote is wrong...

the primary reason origin has grown so much over the last 8-9 years was down to queenslands dominance...and the hype surrounding whether it will be "NSW year" this year....and because of the money involved...the media invest that much money into origin they hype the shit out of it...

Roughy If the think of Australian Footy as a company the ARLC is the board of directors and the NRL is the staff who do the work and make the organisational decisions.
Dave Smith and his team run at the NRL run the game.

The NRL has funded the the Pacific nations tests (at a loss) since 2012 at least. The NRL/ARL funded PNGRL for decades and have funded development programs in the Pacific for at least the past 10 years.

If the other nations had matched Australia in game development than tests would still be the high point of the game. Qld dominance had zero influence on SOO interest here, it became a point of debate but didnt make the punter more likely to go or turn on a TV.

As I correctly said the NRL run the game here and the NRL clubs arent fans of elite games as they fear players they pay well will get hurt/burn out and even if there were more tests unless they are tier 1 tests the clubs dont have to ( and will be reluctant to) release them to play.
