Have the US played themselves into the next WC?

You've added Serbia, Morocco ahead of Scotland, Tonga and South Africa. If that really was to happen it would be a huge shock, but it obviously wont. But who's know what can happen in 4 years.

The point I was making is that anything more than 16 teams and the World Cup would be a joke. Pick the top 16 teams in the world and if Scotland and Tonga are ahead of Serbia and Morocco in 2008 then so be it.

All of these teams will get trounced. Do all these nations play RL.?Do they have a home competition? Are there players chosen from domestic leagues?

they will all have domestic leagues by 2008....and countries like Italy, Greece, Holland, Scotland will be competitive by then...especially if countries like Greece and Italy commence domestic leagues, cause along with the NRL experienced expats those 2 countries have, they should be a force come WC time

I wouldn't have 16 teams either. 10-12 is just fine. I raised the point of there being 20 other nations that you had failed to list because it didn't appear that you were trying to list the 16 strongest, when Morocco are quite poor and Serbia are relatively new without having the benefits of quality coaching or Australian based players to call on.

The USA are better than expected, but I would not list them anywhere near my top 8 like screeny did. Australia were poor, the US had a huge bench and they were rested every 20 min. The Tomahawks played a fine game, but they aren't on the road to the world cup just yet. A few more like Nate Smith and maybe they will change that.

Eh? No comprendo? I haven't submitted a list!

For what it's worth, I think the Yanks are obviously dedicated, improving , benefitting from close links to Oz but it's impossible to make any kind of judgement based on yesterday's evidence.
