I went to an Essendon vs St Kilda game at the MCG a few years ago and was given free tickets, i am just wondering if free tickets are given out often to AFL games in Melbourne.

As i am from Brisbane and most of the Lions games are sell outs, it doesn't really happen here.......

Personally I haven't and I'm a member of the Swans anyway so a free ticket would be useless for me.

I get free tickets to Lions games.
Unlike the ignorant Victorians, I give the game a go.

I used to always get free tickets to the Lions games...with free grog and food to boot. Being a Fosters employee can be good.

Now I pay...although my work has 8 seats, but these are booked out to staff 6 months in advance.

Been to plenty of games and never heard anything, anywhere about getting the tickets for free.

Got offered two for the Richmond vs Adelaide game. Bottom of the table. No one cares for it. And the AFL are parnoid about empty seats and would do anything to avoid it. Hence the thousands of free tickets that will be given away.

I know a friend who gets free tickets anytime he wants. He just rings up a club and askes for them! No bull.

I did an Auskick training program in 1999 (I did a PDHPE subject in an education degree I was doing at the time), and got a Level O qualifciation as an AFL coach.

The next year, I got a letter from the AFL asking me if I was interested in doing some kids coaching in the half time break in the Kangaroos v Power game at the SCG - I was given two free tickets as an incentive. It happened to be my birthday the day of the game, and couldn't go.

One of my mates works for QBE, and gets a certain number of free tickets to the Swans games.

So by consensus we have . it's only possible to get free AFL tickets :
1. From an AFL Sponsor . (prepaid)
2. As a promotion or competition . (prepaid)
3. As recognition for football participation . (payment in kind)
4. AS A NRL SUPPORTER .Good incentive for all the AFL types to take up
RL as they'll get free AFL tickets .

Have won some in a raffle...two tickets to Crows v Fremantle last year, Careys first game for them. second prize was 4 tickets

A mate of mine works for Musashi who sponsor almost every team in Australia for any code so I normally can get tickets to almost anything through him....have been to a couple of Crows CEO's dinners before games which is always pretty funny...always good to see people who know nothing about the game congregate

Same here, radio station down on the Gold Coast has given me a couple of free tickets to the Lions....being a Swans supporter I can enjoy the game being neutral unless the Swans are playing up here!
