Ah. Fair enough, mate. I didn't get what you were trying to say.

No, you CANNOT go after an opponent's head - just because you do accidentally and it doesn't get penalised doesn't mean it's legal, mate.
Rubbish. Otherwise Cayless would have been charged with the accidental knee to Patten's head.

We have every right to blow up about it.

No you don't. Smiths was intentional. Plus, there was no guarantee the decision would stop him making a GF - it was ionly a semi final anyway.

I think Hayne got hard done by - if you compare it to Thurston's kick to Williams' head in Origin 3, which DIDN'T EVEN GET A PENALTY!. Hayne's copped a potential 8 point try AND a charge!!!!!

Bottom line - if Goodwin wasn't concussed - no penalty, no report, no charge.

Same for the big blouse Hannent. If he didn't MILK a penalty - proven when he leapt out of his massive pain to push Hindy with the SAME ARM  - no penalty.

Cheers. And agreed. May the best team win. No regrets, no controversies.

Thats it mate. We had Cam out due to a suspension last year...unfortunately due to his carry over points (and contesting it) he wasnt able to play... the offence as a stand alone would not have had him miss a game all if he was a clean skin. So i wouldnt wish that on the Eels.

now that Dennis fitzgerald is out of the eels i have gained a little more respect for them. The way they have played this year (particularly the second part of it) was nothing short of f'ing awesome....good luck guys...hopefully not too much though ;-)

So wrenching someone's arm back is a nothing incident? Remember what happened to Cameron Smith last year? Same general movement, different part of the body ...

keating didnt grab his arm and wrench it back its the way the tackle was made and hannants arm was lodged/caught between himself and keating

cameron smith repeatedly wrenched at thaidays head like he was trying to rip it off

totally both hayne and keating had no carry over points (i dont think hayne had any) and thats just testament to the typeof clean plays they are (not saying smith is dirty)

anyway good luck to u storm fans and congrats to u guys for the fourth grand final in a row against the club who last played 4 grand finalsin a row mind you

How can anyone say the Keating tackle was a f**king chicken wing??? f**k me dead.

no idea....most of the chicken wing tackles are while players are already tackled on the ground and the tackling player rips the arm back

smith gets charged out of the blue for something that everybody was doing for weeks without getting charged, now hayne gets a lesser charge than gibbs.

talk about double standards! precedents ignored on both counts to the detriment of the storm.

and to the posters that say that the hayne and gibbs incidents were different, you are correct. hayne hit him in the head!!!

the NRL at its muddling best.

keating i am fine with btw.

The difference is Burt had the ball and was always going to score, Gibbs never had to commit to the dive. Hayne was chasing after a ball kicked ahead and dived in at the same time an Goodwin but was beaten. Both guys lead with the knees and were rightly charged but Gibbs was given a Grade 2 because he had ample time to pull out while Hayne didn't and thus was charged with a Grade 1. Hayne missed 0 weeks because of he had no carry over points but Gibbs had carry over points and contested it (no early plea downgrade).
If we look at Merrit who copped 1 week for studding Reddy in the face as he was planting the ball it pretty reasonable. Merrit lead with his feet (Hayne didn't thus not as bad) and he kicked Reddy in the face in the process causing a break in the skin. There have been 10 charges for similar offenses only 2 leading to suspension (Gibbs and Merrit) so I think it is not only the correct ruling but they are consistent. While 3 weeks for Gibbs is harsh penalty I think the chose the correct grading but Gibbs history blew out the penalty.
The Keating charge was all wrong, no intent and was simply trying to make a tackle and the bloke fell during it. I think he was charged only because of the scrutiny and it being a GF next week. Had this happened 3 weeks ago he does not get charged IMO.

Hayne had 20 only.So still came in under the 100 pts.

Keating had NIL.

I think that those totally pissed at Hayne, Keating, the Eels etc for them getting off should just move on. Whats done is done and none of the above had anything to do with the decision.

If you hate us so much cheer for the Storm. Like it will make a difference to the Eels.

As Ozzie said when asked about all those that will blow up about the decision..."so"

Take your frustration our on the NRL. This has nothing to so with the Eels Players and the administration of the Eels. Don't renew your membership with your club as a protest to how the NRL run this game.

End of story, time to move on.

Cheers

Hayne had none. he got 20% loading for a prior but then got a 25% reduction for an early guilty plea

so 100 + 20 - 30 = 90 points

Ummm... yep that was my point.

Sorry I wasn't saying he only had 20 points

As usual the NRL turns a blind eye to legitimate illegal play just because it's the grand final . The backlash from Cameron Smith's illegal tackle last year has scared them into submission . 4 players this year suspended for leading with the feet or knees but Hayne gets off with a grade 1 charge . Paul Osbourne claims in today's paper he was perplexed that he was even reported for the tackle . Just goes to show how stupid the people in power of this game are !!! And Keating almost dislocating a players shoulder is classed as grade 1 . But i'm sure all the Parramatta supporters will claim that Bulldogs supporters are just whinging but if someone took out Hayne or Mortimer with such poorly attempted tackles they would be screaming for justice .

You hate parra but one post ago you took which teams star player as your usuername?

Either
1) taking the piss very poorly, or
2) a rampant f*cktard!

A little of column A, a little of column B.

Actually, A lot of column A and a lot of column B.

you people are morons. Seriously. Are you watching a contact sport or not? Collisions happen. Arms occasionally get bent in tackles. Originally I thought Hayne would have something to worry about, but there wasn't much in it. Grade 1 is fine. The chicken wing is PURE HYSTERIA. Not even penalty worthy.
