I'm not as strongly against it as you are but I totally understand and empathise with that point of view. Based on everything I have read it is no doubt a fairly grubby industry but then there are also willing participants who do well out of the industry. I guess I can see both sides and like religion, I remain largely ambivalent.

I did actually read some of the stuff in the link you sent through (just the summary page). Not sure how scientifically robust it is but it raises some interesting questions about what the proliferation of porn has done/is doing to people.

First of all you need a camera and a microphone actually attached to your tv/computer for it to be used. Even if it is turned off 'they' can turn it on.

However, they are not watching you. They have no reason to. They certainly can if they want to though.

I'm not against porn in moderation but if you're whacking it 5 times a day that's probably not normal. I would say porn is similar to a behavior like gambling, it shouldn't be outlawed or looked down upon just because some people can't handle it. When I look at a pokies machine all I see is a trash can for my money.

If you eat pizza for every meal you will get obese, but that doesn't mean you can't enjoy it occasionally and be in good shape, or that the government can tell you that you can't place any leftovers in your child's lunch box. If you play World of Warcraft 20 hours a day you are going to f**k up your life, but it doesn't mean you can't enjoy it for a few hours for recreation.

Moderation is key with anything except in the case of addictive drugs, which takes the power of choice right out of the consumers hand.
