Same as how I watch all the other fullbacks. I’m not saying Hayne’s involvement wasn’t too low, I’m saying the reason wasn’t laziness. It was a lack of endurance which is common to big power athletes. Nobody’s good at everything, but some weaknesses can be hidden better in different positions.
As for modern fullbacks, they add so much to the attack if they are able to remain heavily involved. In any given carry you would expect Hayne to do more than someone like Slater or Gutherson but the latter two are everywhere. It means they get far more opportunity to hit a gap or support a break, or even just make the ball carrier’s job easier by drawing defenders away. Meanwhile power backs like Hayne, Radradra or Rapana would still be sucking in the big ones from their last damaging run.
There was a time that Hayne became a "power athlete" but before then circa 2009/10 he was a skinny NRL kid playing fullback at the eels who use to do some f**king brilliant things and often go missing and walk kick returns back. You say it's his physiology, I say he's prone to be a pea heart.
